When do you think Logic Pro 11 will come out?

I was hoping for a major update just before NAMM, but Logic‘s development has really slowed down considerably in the last couple of years. I guess the next update will be 10.7.8. Yawn.

I agree. If you are not interested in spatial audio the major feature release was 10.5 which was 3 years ago.GrabtharsHammer wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 11:17 am I was hoping for a major update just before NAMM, but Logic‘s development has really slowed down considerably in the last couple of years. While I too was hoping for a substantial NAMM update, I know they're working on new stuff, and it should hit us soon.
Don't forget about some of the things we got in updates 10.7 (late '21) and 10.7.5 (late '22) though:
- major updates to the step sequencer
- a refreshed interface
- Dolby Atmos
- Lil Nas demo project
- MIDI input port and channel filtering per track
- new sound packs/loops/drumkits/instruments
- nested track stacks
- gain tool
- individual stomp boxes
- Master presets
- free tempo recording
- midi output recording
But yes, I am highly anticipating the next major update.

Yeah, I know, but seeing projects from The Killers, Beck, Billie Eilish, etc., re-worked with stock Logic plugins is pretty nice.sQeetz wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 4:30 pmSen-sational!hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 4:27 pm

Yes, I don't mind actually... I start Logic and open "Ocean Eyes" on a display machine every time I'm in Saturn or Media Markt just because....

It’s a shame the environment window gets more buried and hidden with each update. Would be nice if they could make a “midi grid” like bitwig. That would be fun. People used to make all kinds of crazy midi stuff back in the day.

I'm pretty late to Logic. But what could the environment actually be used for?
I know hot to open it and that you can string things together, but it never really occurred to me what can be done with it what MIDI plugins can't do

It does all kinds of things. MacProVideo used to have a number of tutorials for building environments with various functions and tricks.
It's all logical…
It's all logical…

You're lucky! Prior to Logic Platinum/Pro 6, you had to use the Environment to actually setup all your MIDI devices and route them to the sequencer heh. None of it 'just worked' like it does now. I'm guessing the shift to OS X and CoreMIDI allowed them to take the setup from the system and just use that (probably part of why they dropped Windows too). "Back in the day" I had Environment setups for step sequencers, panels/editors for all my outboard synths, alternate controller setups, etc.. There is still a lot you can do with it, but thankfully its not mandatory any more.sQeetz wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:22 pm I'm pretty late to Logic. You could. Build complex MIDI systems with it. Sequencers, editors, function generators etc. people would highly customize their logic projects. It was like modular MIDI before all that existed other than in cycling74 Max which was MIDI only until the MSP part of it was added later.sQeetz wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:22 pm I'm pretty late to Logic.
