So for any of those reasons I'm 100% out, although I have to say the ducking done on the decay time is an interesting concept.

I have a trillion physical plate emulations at this point (actually it's 4, but could as well be a trillion in a sense of definitely not needing 1 more
), and not elegible for any Soundtoys upgrade/discount.
So for any of those reasons I'm 100% out, although I have to say the ducking done on the decay time is an interesting concept.

That's cool. It doesn't really bother me if my opinion is accepted or not. We're different individuals and we like different things. As for your comments about Arturia DSP, I agree, they could do better in some departments (say loading times and CPU efficiency). I do like how their stuff sounds though. The reverbs are brilliant in particular.CinningBao wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:58 am I'm sorry but your opinion doesn't fall into the acceptable 'opinion range' as described by the KVR policies and directives.
I jest!
I trust it will be worth <the upgrade price for me>, because I trust their engineers. But I don't agree with your 'have a look at Arturia stuff' - I really don't rate their inefficient DSP or many of their emulations much at all. And that's my unshakable opinion.
I have a feeling that my comments made it seem like I'm holding something against SoundToys. I'm really not. I've repeatedly said that I like them and their plugins are classic. I just don't think that a plate reverb plugin should be priced at $149 in 2023, that's all. And one of the reasons behind it is because tons of developers have already done plate reverbs and it's nothing new about it.

Many people will get this new plugin and almost nobody is going to pay $149 for it. It will be added value for the bundle and later they can discount it to whatever. This is how it works and everybody knows it. It's well past time to stop pretending most plugin prices mean anything.

For the folks who don’t own any SoundToys plugs already, I would just advise to stay tuned for further developments. SoundToys seems to offer one of their plugs or another for around $25 every couple of months, and the upgrade path to the full suite from any one of their products (maybe two) is pretty easy. I picked up the suite for something like $160 after getting Sie-Q and Tremolater a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly, those plugins were actually given to me for free. Once you’re into their eco-system with an account, good things start to happen.

That's an amazing price for the whole suite. I got the *Little Radiator* free a couple months ago. I'm hoping I get some upgrade path out of it.W23 wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 3:07 pm For the folks who don’t own any SoundToys plugs already, I would just advise to stay tuned for further developments. As I have said often, taste is subjective.
Whilst I love the features of the ARturia stuff, I think except for their the Fragments plugin, I have yet to actually use one in a final version of a project, whereas for me SoundToys stuff gets used in most if not all final versions of projects.
I just personally love their sound aesthetics (but yes the resizable gui is long overdue... and yes I am a ST beta testers but bought all their products)
Not that Arturia are bad, just for me I have better options.. But Arturia is improving their DSP competency in almost every new plugin they come out with.

It was a few years ago, and it’s quite funny because I just logged into my account to check for an upgrade from my V5.2 to V5.3 and they’re asking $459. Lol! They’re just crediting Sie-Q and Tremolator right now and forgetting all about my V5.2. It’s fine. It’s a waiting game with them. They aren’t on that promotion path just yet for the suite upgrade, obviously. I’m not in a hurry. I’m not really in need of yet-another-plate-reverb either.musicproducerdee wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 3:18 pmThat's an amazing price for the whole suite. Yeah, they used to regularly release stuff and you could get a number of them for free. I even think SieQ was free for a short window, no?W23 wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 3:07 pm For the folks who don’t own any SoundToys plugs already, I would just advise to stay tuned for further developments. I had three free plugins before buying anything. I missed the Little Radiator promotion, but, SieQ, Tremolator, and Little Plate were all free between 2016 and 2017. At that time, the version number, was 5.0x. Soundtoys doesn't have a Waves like sale history, but they do put individual plugins on sale fairly regularly. Tremolator was $29 every other week (I might be exaggerating) after the free release. I remember that Sweetwater had Echo Boy on special for $49 and that, then about two years later Crystalizer was $30 on one of the plugin sites. I upgraded from all of that for $50 IIRC, so all in it cost about $130, but, they have not released free plugins at all since Little Plate in 2017. At any rate, that upgrade price was also during a sale and was from five plugins. So that should give you an idea on whether you want to take the slow road if you're interested.
The upgrade/purchase price for the entire bundle goes on sale every black friday as well.
Also, correction from above, their website says that 5.3 has 21 plugins. I either miscounted them or there is something not showing on their product -page. So SuperPlate will be the only new plugin in 5.4 and that's what you'll get for your $59.

Decapitator is on sale for $49 at Plugin Boutique as we speak. I have too seen Tremolator and Phase Mistress on sale like every other week (ofc exaggerating too), but yeah.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 4:12 pmYeah, they used to regularly release stuff and you could get a number of them for free. In a market economy costs don't matter as much as market price, do you profit at market price or not? Is your demand inelastic enough to price your product higher that the market price?CinningBao wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:10 am People can make disparaging comments about the cost of the product without having any knowledge of the actual cost of research and development, and think it's fine.
Seems like uninformed opinions to me. Make your objective judgements when you have the demo, if you haven't already biased them with these uninformed opinions.

I think this looks fantastic and $59 is a fair price. The "demo" of the sound in that Sweetwater vid was pretty useless, but I'm sure it will sound great. This will definitely be a buy for me.

So happy to see Soundtoys release something new! Five plates that were ‘flown in’ and modeled for years - so let’s see if Superplate is now the new Gold Standard for plate emulations!

I deleted Little Plate long ago. I get far more use out of Lustrous Plates.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 4:45 am Not gonna lie, I really like little plate. I will probably upgrade as long as it's not too much because they still use iLok. On the other hand, I might wait some 6 months/years too, don't know yet.
I'll demo this when it's out, but... I don't often use a lot of plate and LPS seems to cover my needs. To date, Liquidsonics has also been releasing new products and upgrades, unlike Soundtoys.
