How do you monitor Mic input?

When I use a microphone I see the meter bouncing but I can't hear it. When I push end-to-end (whatever that is) I can hear it but with a delay echo, so I'm guessing I'm hearing input AND output.

How do you hear just the input?

Try selecting the audio input then enable its e-to-e button.
