2C Audio

After years of not making music I am finally getting back to it. I am in the process of going through my plugins and updating them. Part of this frequently means getting in touch with the companies to update my customer registration information (my email address has changed) so I can get the latest versions. I bought both Aether and Breeze way back in 2010. I was unable to access an account at Designer Sound with my old email address, either because the account simply doesn't exist as a function of how long ago it was that I made the purchases or because I have used the wrong password. However a password reset isn't an option as that email address no longer exists. Anyway, I got in touch with 2C Audio a couple of days ago after creating a new account at Designer Sound. Haven't heard anything back, so got in touch directly with Designer Sound. However I then read about the business breakdown at 2C Audio. I was going to upgrade to Breeze 2.5 if I could get my account sorted but now am concerned about the future of the company. Given that some DAWs are phasing out support for VST2 - and I am fairly sure 2C Audio's products are all VST2 - is it worth pursuing this? Should I skip the upgrade/save my money? Any advice much appreciated.

save your money. it's a trainwreck over there and the company seems in limbo. it's a bummer. B2 is amazing and a special kind of processor for me. but i wouldn't bet on any of it being updated for apple silicon or VST3 etc. or even just fixing bugs etc.
there's a few long threads here on kvr that make things really seem a hopeless mess over there. they're not fun to read and there's lot's of internet company drama in each of them i think.

Has anyone received a response from 2caudio support recently? I sent in a relatively simple support ticket on Saturday (how is "Sidechain PD" different from "Sidechain" in the Dynamics section of B2, and a few similar questions I haven't found the answer to in the manual) and haven't heard back from them. It looks like the last email they sent out was in 2021 (unless it was redirected to my spam folder and automatically deleted...).

See the above posts and links. This company imploded. Not at all surprised you're not getting a response.Ou_Tis wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 7:04 pm Has anyone received a response from 2caudio support recently? Mine as well.andrew_k wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 6:59 pm Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it. Gosh, that's grim reading... Aether and Breeze were my favourite reverb plugins too. Darn.
Since i sold off everything 2C, i’ve been using Pro-R and Valahalla Room and VintageVerb mostly.
TaiChi Lite as well.
Pro-R is really easy to fit in the mix and i sort of use that and Valhalla Plate in place of Breeze.
Valhalla Room is sort of like Aether.
There’s nothing quite like B2.

Yeah B2 was weird, but in a good way. I haven't found a replacement either. Same for their weird panning/delay/distance/density plugin thing (whatever it was called).

Yeah, it was also pretty unique. I guess Voxengo Spatifier can do some things Precedence did

Thanks for your reply, it has really given me food for thought. How close do you think Valhalla Room gets to Aether?Ploki wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:39 am Mine as well.

Have you ever taken a look at MeldaProduction MTurboReverb? It's got (if I recall correctly) four reverb engines that you can configure in parallel, in series, and probably countless other ways. To me, it's a fine sounding reverb even in single-engine operation.bmanic wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 9:42 am Yeah B2 was weird, but in a good way. I haven't found a replacement either.

I didn't find them much alike at all honestly. I miss aether since I went vst3 only. But have enough other verbs. I like Acon Verberate for natural verb.andrew_k wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:09 pmThanks for your reply, it has really given me food for thought. What are the odds some other company might buy them / buy the rights to their plugins? Even if they did, if the people who coded them no longer get along, would it be prohibitively difficult to get other programmers to update them or develop them further?

Not an answer to the topic starter, but yeah Aether=really cool reverb plugin and unique.
