How to stop 'Package' notification ?

It's very annoying that if I've chosen to not install all offered packages, I get prompted with this notification every time I open bitwig, and it doesn't disappear unless I manually click to close it. I don't want to update all, I don't want to see the package manager, I simply want to stick with the current state of 'some, not all, installed' without always getting this notification on startup....am I missing some way to prevent this behavior?

Oh no, that thing is back. I haven't seen it since early 3.x versions. I couldn't do anything about it then so I emailed them and it was gone in the next bug fix update.

Is that on the V5 beta or? If so support@bitwig.com

Sorry, can't help.

To be clear, if you choose update all it only updates the packages you've already got installed. If for some reason you don't want to do that I don't think there's any way to permanently dismiss the prompt.

Not the case for me I pressed update and immediately regretted it as it installed all sorts of stuff I didn't want, I wish they would make a presets only category. Bitwig for me is a modulation playground I don't need sample based stuff cluttering up the browser.

In the meanwhile, it is really insignificant to just click the notification to make it go away

Every time you open Bitwig? Of course it's not hard but then how hard would it be to add options to block update notifications and for the love of all that's holy a way to block BW from indexing presets every.... fricking....time...... :bang:

I don't use BWs preset system and never will. I use the plugin's built in patch handling systems.

All the content scanning and indexing is what I hate most about BW. It's to the point where I just open BW and go make a cup of coffee. Sometimes when I get back it's actually done scanning and sometimes it's still grinding away.....

Yes, it's one click of the mouse.

That would be tedious...

For me, indexing is invisible. The only time I notice it is if there are package updates and I install them.

Also, on my studio computer, I restart Bitwig maybe once a week at most.

That shouldn't have to be done at all.

I do a fresh boot every morning so yea it's very tedious and totally unnecessary as witnessed by the other 4 DAWs I own.

Anyway I see there is a Beta 5 available so we'll see what that brings.

Like I said above, the devs can make the darn notice go away.

I agree that you should be able to index when you feel like it. Maybe even set a schedule.

Personally I don't DL the content and I don't use Bitwig to manage my samples library, I rather drag samples in from the finder/file explorer, so as long as all is working right indexing goes by in a flash.

Is there really no way to turn off the notifications? It really annoys me to have to click to turn it off every time I open Bitwig.

Post

The most annoying one for me is "Really Bounce Audio? .... The current project has missing plugins (or something like that)". It's not the notification per se that I find annoying but the fact that the program doesn't tell me where the missing plugins are and I need to go through all tracks myself. And well also they could add a "don't ask again" checkbox.

I really don't think there is. Hopefully this gets addressed in the supposed QOL upgrade that's meant to happen soon.
