A lot of companies talk about ‘AT style guitars’ so they don’t get sued for saying the word tele or telecaster.

FYI there is a guitar gear thread, here…

That said, maybe take a look at teles from G&L, Leo Fender co-founded it after leaving Fender in the 70’s.

Their Fullerton Bluesboys are pretty respected

Squier is the only other manufacturer I see available at Sweetwater. The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster - Butterscotch Blonde seems to be the most popular and well reviewed out of all of their available models. The White Blonde finish is a close second.

Squiers are also Fenders, they’re classed as their ‘budget range’ even though some of them are excellent. I’ve got a J Mascis Squier JazzMaster that’s a wonderful guitar, especially for the £400 or so I paid for it.
Also heard their ‘Classic Vibe’ range has had great reviews.

I understand. Searching further, I have found Groove Guitars and Tone Guitars, but there are no reviews between either of them. You can purchase them at Kanamusic, but they are a wholesaler.

At this point, I would just get a Fender Telecaster.

I would talk to people who owned a bunch of different telecasters and get their impressions. Ideally visit a store to try some if possible. Search results are a poor substitute.

Yup, pretty happy with my Classic Vibe tele thinline. Have also played a Classic Vibe Jazz that was clearly better than the equivalent made-in-Mexico Fender.

Love my G&L Tele, not really a budget guitar, they do have the tribute line or whatever as well, cant say about them tho. Worth a look at least, id wager.

Ah, thanks, that helps. That led me to this list, which was sort of what I was looking for:

Thanks for the thread reference. Yeah, I'm not completely oblivious. I have a squire partscaster DIY nashville that is my current tele. I've had at least one tele in my "collection" for decades. Quoted because I don't really collect guitars, at least not on purpose.

Love the Eastwood guitars variants. I also like the inexpensive G&L imports well enough as they have some key features, e.g., humbucker in the neck options, tummy cuts (parallel lines blah blah blah tonewood blah blah blah get a strat blah blah blah, don't care, thanks purists).

Not going to lie, I would just buy an American Fender before spending $2k+ on a G&L.

One thing that I've noticed is that used American teles from the last decade or so aren't usually insanely priced and many had tummy cuts, so that may be the way to go. I just wanted to check out some of the other variants and couldn't think of the different vendors. I've been to a few of them now to price out custom guitars, that was fun, now we're done with that. In any case, I have some brand names to search for on the used market.

Was thinking about buying something on Reverb, just another eurorack module, and then noticed the prick was asking £35 for delivery. Within UK. Does it get delivered in a f**king hamper?

I mean if Tessa Thompson flies it to me I may think it’s just about worth that.

Had to google Tessa Thompson, but I'll allow it.

Sometimes KVR is just old men being old men. I don't feel bad about that. Just sayin.
