Regarding the JD-XA, yes it's a great machine with some potential.
But, limitation of the analog channels and the analog / digital combination was not the wisest way it was implemented.
It could have been and still is a hybrid must-have.
But once again Roland's choice to limit its possibilities was stupid.
In addition, it is dated and the price / performance overrated, the great no matter what.
Indeed, the System 8 has a more analog sound than the JD-XA.
Which is a shame with System 8, the arpeggiator and sequencer function could have been more perfected.
Then some also lack of functionality.
Not to mention a miserable poverty of factory patches.
System 8, on the other hand, if it had been better developed, it would have cost a marvel.
But as so often at Roland, product monitoring is a scourge.
Except on the Jupiter X and XM and the TR series where the last update is still relatively correct.

What's wrong with the implementation? Did you mean to say Jupiter-X? System-8 doesn't sound more analog than JD-XA.Indeed, the System 8 has a more analog sound than the JD-XA.
Around 500 patches in total once you include the ones from the Axial site.Not to mention a miserable poverty of factory patches.

Yes as much for me, the Jupiter X.
Yet the Jupiter X (digital / vst).
Since version 3, it is even more present.
Maybe an impression on my part.
Regarding the patches, I was talking about System 8, but the JD XA is not very provided either origne (256).
The purpose of my use is to do without my computer as much as possible.
So having to download the sounds to have a larger library does not interest me.
The why, I find that this evening on the JD XA and even worse on the System 8, the original presets are insufficient.

Sure, all of that is true. I would say it's a great synth but not perfect. If it had the full Integra engine, it would be close to perfect. The Juno X and Jupiter-X are better if you're specifically looking for the rompler sounds but I personally feel that the JD-XA is better in every other regard.
One thing cool is it can load all the Integra VA patches. That adds around 400-500 more. You'd still need to program the analog side to go along with them but, honestly, that's the easy part.
