Dodo midi compatibility?

Hello everyone,

I have just started using Waveform so I might be missing something obvious...

I am trying to use the voice>midi plugin Dodo midi, but when I add Dodo midi and a synth plugin to the chain, I get the error "This track contains wave clips which may be inaudible as the audio will be blocked by some of the track's plugins". I can hear the processed output as playback, but I can't record to a new track to convert the clip to midi.

Does anybody know about dodo midi compatibility with Waveform, am I missing something, or is there a workaround for this?

Thx!!

I haven't used this, but do you actually have the 2 instances of DODO per instructions - one BEFORE the synth in master mode, and one AFTER and NOT in master mode?

I'm guessing here, but I presume the first instance of DODO does the conversion from audio to MIDI, and not sure why the second needs to be there. Possibly you could put an "Aux send" immediately after the first DODO instance; and place an "Aux receive" on another track; but not sure you can RECORD that MIDI stream (It shows up apparently post-input on the "received" track).

Ignore the warning, you're not supposed to hear the original audio anyway.

Any time you want to capture midi in waveform you have to get around the fact the your virtual instrument will 'eat' the midi data (and turn it into sound obviously)
I just had a play around and here's a couple of workarounds.
Put one instance of Dodo (master enabled) on the track with your wav file and then simply render the track to midi.
Or, set up the normal dodo/synth/dodo chain inside a plugin rack and connect the midi out (red connecter) from the back of the first dodo instance to the midi out inside the rack. This will let the midi pass through.
You can either render the track to midi or set another track input to receive midi from this track and record.

Good luck, I haven't used dodo a lot, it seems a bit fiddly to get an accurate conversion from audio that has a lot of modulation.
