I thought I read that the developer of Aether was creating an updated version for modern formats, and I think he said owners of Aether would get the update for free?Ou_Tis wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 6:41 pm What are the odds some other company might buy them / buy the rights to their plugins? It sounds to me like the parties involved at 2C Audio have their ownership of the products intertwined to the degree that being able to release enough rights to one party to be viable to resume with it as a product are nil.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:35 pmI thought I read that the developer of Aether was creating an updated version for modern formats, and I think he said owners of Aether would get the update for free?Ou_Tis wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 6:41 pm What are the odds some other company might buy them / buy the rights to their plugins? oh man, this is really so disappointing... i used these reverbs a lot, they still work for me unlike iZotope plugins which are a mixed bag. i would be cautious using these further though.

not to mention they don't seem to want to talk to each other and judging by the threads here have some animosity towards each other. this means there would need to be some kind of arbitration or a very motivated buyer willing to be the go between to hash out all the details.plexuss wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:42 pmIt sounds to me like the parties involved at 2C Audio have their ownership of the products intertwined to the degree that being able to release enough rights to one party to be viable to resume with it as a product are nil.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:35 pmI thought I read that the developer of Aether was creating an updated version for modern formats, and I think he said owners of Aether would get the update for free?Ou_Tis wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 6:41 pm What are the odds some other company might buy them / buy the rights to their plugins? also, seems like maybe there's so much work to do to make them compatible with currents OS and processors it'd be a like buying a big boat.

I just did another shoot-out between B2 and my other reverbs... some of the Mystical Spaces and Gigantic Spaces at 4x quality are so much better than everything else I've tried---is there anything you know of that comes close? Valhalla Supermassive and Blackhole are nowhere near as good. CRTIV Reverb 2 has nice body but it's not nearly as complex or versatile, with very limited controls. Adaptiverb is lush but still can't do anything close to those mystical spaces.... Maybe if I feed something like Supermassive into CRTIV Reverb 2 and/or Adaptiverb or vice versa....

Valhalla Delay Cygnus preset is one that reminds me of some of those B2 presets you mention--but I've not done a lot with Valhalla Delay for big reverbs.Ou_Tis wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:14 pm I just did another shoot-out between B2 and my other reverbs... some of the Mystical Spaces and Gigantic Spaces at 4x quality are so much better than everything else I've tried---is there anything you know of that comes close? 2caudio was releasing a vocoder?sqigls wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:14 am just what a company that takes 20 years to release a vocoder needs...

also, no one is stirring the pot.. just relating the older threads where the pot was full stirred already... the OP asked if it's safe to buy 2caudio plug ins.. so people are sharing the info about the state of the company.
if you're curious.. see the linked threads in the 2nd post for the lay of the land at 2caudio

It's pretty sad to hear about the in-fighting within 2C Audio. Though brewing for years it seems, the final slight against Denis seems to have happened right around the time of his country's "you know what", so forgive me if I'm connecting dots that don't exist and take this with a grain of salt, but with sanctions and divestment in full swing at that time, it would probably have been the most opportune moment to cut a Russian business partner out of the company. Excuse me for speculating but it kinda looks that way. I realise there are "2 sides to every story" so not making final judgement.dayjob wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 6:57 pm save your money. it's a trainwreck over there and the company seems in limbo. it's a bummer. B2 is amazing and a special kind of processor for me. but i wouldn't bet on any of it being updated for apple silicon or VST3 etc. or even just fixing bugs etc.
there's a few long threads here on kvr that make things really seem a hopeless mess over there. they're not fun to read and there's lot's of internet company drama in each of them i think.

Speaking of judgement, this is the kind of case that should go before a court - but it never could.

Regarding "cutting people out", the fact the 2C Audio site clearly states the two principals involved shows there's a door open. https://2caudio.com/about/people My hope is the geopolitical situation stabilizes and resolution can be reached. Until then we're all beholden to it so let's not speculate.
I feel somewhat sorry for the people on M1 and Cubase. I'm still using Breeze 2 + Precedence, B2, Aether, Kaleidoscope. WizooVerb gets thrown on drums once in a while. Irreplaceable tools work until they fail, and on Windows (minus Cubase) they have a much longer life. 2C Audio DRM is a serial number, which will prove its worth in practice if need be.

i made a comment on KVR about Kaleidoscope not working on either of my machines, Andrew totally abused me via PM, so i don't give a rats ass in the end, after buying all of their plugins he treats me like that.

Invasion and launch of a war…?
no need to be so pretend-coy, considering the speculation in the rest of your post.

>I thought I read that the developer of Aether was creating an updated version for modern formats, and I think he said owners of Aether would get the update for free?
I'm working on a new reverb which is something in between Aether and Breeze. The reverb alg is almost fully ready and sounds pretty good. I just need to finish up the GUI/SDK part. The re-working of Aether will come next as there are lots of things to improve in 17 years old alg. The work goes slower than I want it to progress as I have to take part in side projects to have some money for living (2CA was my only source of income). plug-in works already natively on M1/M2 and VST3 support is implemented
2) the situation has nothing to do with a war between US and RU. the problems started already in 2017. Though the war made the consequences worse for me. Some of my money that I had in US stocks got frozen due to sanctions
3) regarding buying 2C plug-ins: please be advised that all 2CA sales are illegal. 2CA sells software that contains predominately my intellectual property without my consent and without sharing profits with me. All users who purchased after 9 may 2022 (the date 2CA was officially notified about copyright infringement by my lawyer) are effectively using illegal software. Those who care about that could ask 2C to provide a legal proof that they hold all the copyrights to the software that they sell online. I would be glad to see such a proof.
