I was thinking of doing Black Box Midside + Big Al, but I already have Black Box and my DAW can make it mid-side, so it doesn't seem like it's adding that much... the new filters are basically EQ right? And I guess it also adds TMT, which I haven't found all that impressive in other PA plugins, though it could be useful if I'm using multiple instances simultaneously, which I usually don't. Does it add really nice new presets?...
Several people have been raving about Big Al on various forums, and while I like what it does on short synth sounds and plucks in the audio demos, I'm not loving the vocal demos I've heard, and I'd mainly use it on vocals. (In general I find it shocking how often I dislike the PA audio demos.) I found one Youtube demo that was slightly more impressive on vocals, but I'm pretty sure I still prefer what I already have (various Acustica, BB Tubes, Twin Tubes, Slate VMS, Black Box, a ton of other stuff...).

Yeah. I’d pass if I were in your position.

14 day demos on those PA plugins. No need to guess In the future. They’ll have more sales for sure.

I wasn't going to buy any PA plugs this time, but kept thinking 2 for $25 is probably as good as it'll get for the plugs I'm looking at - and I really like what the Black Box HG-2 does and also liked the demos with the new features for the HG-2MS. I just like what that plug does with simplicity. In the end I caved and bought when the sale extended to today. I had trouble deciding on the other one to get and ended up with the Lindell 50, but almost went for digital V3 instead. I'm more on the creative side of things instead of the finer points of mixing and prefer plugs with more obvious effects and things like differences between channel strips and eqs are hard for me to distinguish - but Black Box is obvious.

Pretty sure this is the case. They did the same during the March sale.igorius wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 7:47 pmI noticed this too. I've contacted their support but didn't receive a reply yet. I hope that they just temporarily disabled dynamic discounts for the current sale period.martinjuenke wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 3:37 pm It seems that PA changed their Dynamic Discount policy for license transfer fees. No longer valid. Therefore 40 USD for two transfers instead of 32 as before. Observation correct??

2 free months of Splice Creator plan for Cubase 12 owners... but does it apply if you already have a paused Splice subscription? I'd guess not. I could try to use thousands of credits before the offer ends and then cancel my Splice subscription, but if I cancel and then sign up again will all my old samples be missing from my Splice account and no longer available for download?...

Yes it does apply - it's just a two month discount rather than a free trial so I managed to use my existing account. And don't forget to diary date the cancellation!Ou_Tis wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:44 pm 2 free months of Splice Creator plan for Cubase 12 owners... but does it apply if you already have a paused Splice subscription? You should demo it to see how the controls affect the sound, it's a pretty unique workflow. The "clarity" control "unmasks the direct signal", which in practice removes "mud". "Color" is your tone control. You can change the density over time via envelope. The primary XY graph impacts the overall character, as it shapes frequency decay, and heading towards "rich" increases modulation if that's what you mean by "lush tail".Ou_Tis wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 8:22 pm Is it true that Smart:Reverb has "no disturbing resonances or muddy tails"? Is that only if you stick with the settings the AI arrives at? I'd probably want to make it darker, increase the tail density, play around with the other sound design parameters. Is it possible to get a lush tail without it becoming muddy or developing nasty resonances?

Has version 10 already been free?ssl4000 wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 2:37 pm @up
the lowest it goes is £0, you can get it for free many times a year
If I wanted to buy iZotope stuff, I would also look for second hand offers.

If anyone has a $75 Plugin Alliance April loyalty voucher that they are not planning to use, I would appreciate it via PM. Thank you.
I assume that even if you used it, I could still give it a try and see if I works for me. So, basically, any used voucher is also welcomed.

Hmm... not sure how to reconcile this with the commenter with an active account who couldn't figure out where to enter the voucher. Had you canceled and then used the voucher? If your account was active or paused, where did you enter the voucher?Double Tap wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:25 pmYes it does apply - it's just a two month discount rather than a free trial so I managed to use my existing account.
