waves harmony and Midi

Windows 10. Tracktion Waveform 12 Pro.

Been using waves Harmony for a little while and finally tried to do some midi input.

First thing I tried was having two inputs for the track, one for the mic and one for the MIDI controller.
This did not seem to work for engaging with waves harmony.
I also tried with a midi file with data in it and the mic input by itself. Did not seem to work.

I tried it with the midi file on another track and having one of the inputs be the midi coming from that midi file track. Did not seem to work.

Let me know if anyone has had success with this. I do have that feeling that I'm just missing one little click of the button or something, but I've watched a good number of videos so far and haven't quite gotten it.
