Yeah, same thoughts. Now it looks like bundle upgrades will take even more time, so I decided to jump on getting some plugins that I use updated via WUP (through a dealer). Glad I waited for the 25% off sale.noiseboyuk wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 2:31 pm The 25% WUP sale has returned, so that just leaves bundle updates as the only thing not restored. They've said it is coming but couldn't give a timeframe, I guess they'll just slot it in whenever it suits them in the sales schedules. It makes sense to do it after a WUP sale (not before) as they'd get more money overall that way - people will WUP who wouldn't if there was an upgrade sale.
Waves already backtracking

Just saw the sale in an email from some audio vendor. A little late now though for me. I only ever used the SSL Ev2 and the bus comp of all my licenses, and they've already been replaced. Ended up going API with the Softube American Class A channel strip and bought their Bus Processor when it was released. After going through some projects and swapping out the Waves for the Softube, I'm definitely a Softube fan now, and not even considering WUP anymore. They've even got me seriously considering the Console 1 now. If the API sounds this good, I bet their SSL E is pretty killer too..

Don’t give Waves your money. Let them go bankrupt and sell off their assets to someone with an actual business model.

Excellent! Do you remember how long time the WUP sales goes on for? Just one week or longer?noiseboyuk wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 2:31 pm The 25% WUP sale has returned, so that just leaves bundle updates as the only thing not restored. Usually longer as per my observation. I guess it will continue until the end of this month.DrGonzo wrote: Tue May 09, 2023 4:55 amExcellent! Do you remember how long time the WUP sales goes on for? Not to go too off topic, but looking for a quick opinion: Are Softube versions of SSL/API/other analog counterparts to Waves significantly different/better in sound in your opinion?mothra wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 11:05 pm Just saw the sale in an email from some audio vendor. It was actually intended for mothra. But it was OK that you replied, just that it was not helpful (to me) at all.sqigls wrote: Tue May 09, 2023 6:32 am check the above post numbnuts... "just curious to know your thoughts if you want to share."

Anyway, I hate to argue these days, so it's all good.

Oooh that's a tough one. I don't necessarily know if they are 'better' but I like the way stuff is sounding with the Softube. Waves doesn't have an actual API channel so its hard to compare it to their SSL channels, but the Softube is definitely more 'meaty' and 'API' then the SSL hehe. The Waves SSL channels have some insane 20db of gain on them, but I like the thicker, more subtle drive you can get out of the Softube. The EQ takes some getting used to as you've got stepped values but it works good.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Tue May 09, 2023 5:06 am Not to go too off topic, but looking for a quick opinion: Are Softube versions of SSL/API/other analog counterparts to Waves significantly different/better in sound in your opinion?

I don't think there is any way to try out their SSL E channel unless you buy Console 1. I'm curious about it, but I like the API just fine at the moment so Im not rushing out to buy one yet. I demoed the SSL 4B too and that thing was KILLER compared to the Waves E channel. Sucks it's $350 though, waiting for a killer sale on it.

The Waves plugins I use I really like. Mainly most of the Abbey Road ones and Clarity. But I'm moving on from them because you can only authorize them on one machine at time. How ridiculous in 2023.
I wupped the Abbey Road bundle last XMas. I get to use them on a second computer for only a year. So lame. Not going to bother using them on any upcoming mixes. Have more than enough vintage comps, eqs and verbs authorized on multiple machines.

PITA, a lot of people like me use a laptop and other main computer, their licence system can tell if your are using either, use on 2 computers should be standard nowadays I think... not gonna buy anymore from them, I do like some of their stuff but there are others to use..heyheycnv wrote: Tue May 09, 2023 1:37 pm The Waves plugins I use I really like.
