The Microfreak has been in the back of my mind for quite a while now. Got an email this morning from Arturia about the snazzy new Stellar edition and pulled the trigger before the coffee had time to kick in.

That's the way to do it. I love the smell of GAS in the morning...smells like....victory...sprnva wrote: Thu May 11, 2023 8:49 am The Microfreak has been in the back of my mind for quite a while now. GAS time
just a prototype but a duophonic synth co-designed with the late Chris Huggett based on extensions of his Wasp and Oscar ideas.

Bought a faceplate for the new Roucha Legio (filter + wavefolder) firmware.
At first I thought this was going to be redundant with the Lacrima Versio, and I don't love having an endless, notched encoder for a cutoff control on a filter. But the combination of filter with that wavefolder (pre, post or both) kicks ass.
It also seems to be creating stereo from mono somehow -- it's mostly subtle, unless you set the resonance to self-oscillate and feed an LFO into the L input and you've got stereo tremolo :O Also CV over the wavefolder works better here than on some other Noise Engineering modules where you can't quite get it plucky. There's a lot of pluck here. And things will go wild if you crank the reso enough and modulate the filter at audio rates...

If it's priced like its older brother, should be quite affordable too!vurt wrote: Thu May 11, 2023 2:00 pmthat's a nice piece of kit!WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu May 11, 2023 1:14 pm GAS time

Edit: or not, from the Sonicstate video "Price 1,599 Euro. 1,349 GBP"
Always Read the Manual!

Yeah, must admit was a little disappointed when it got to that bit. Not sure how they transitioned from an affordable analog synth to a hybrid one at three times the price.

That Korg Acoustic Synthesis Phase 5 has got my attention. Like ebowing a Rhodes except in a handy little self-contained instrument. Unfortunately it's still R&D stuff, not a new product announcement.
