$29? Ok, that’s super reasonable, yes.

I am significantly older than you :).
Have been beta testing with them from the time they started doing vst (I think they initially only did Pro Tools stuff). I definitely want (and others on the beta team) resizable gui's but the contrast has never bothered me and I am not sure I have ever seen another beta member raise it.

Not saying you wrong, just it hasn't been an issue for me or the beta team as far as I know..

My issue is particularly when the background and foreground elements match. It's just bad design IMO.

Example: Echoboy. The original. Deep black background. Deep black knobs. Thin white lines as knob indicators that blend in with the thin white tick marks on the background. I literally cannot see where the bottom right portion of the knob ends and the backgruond begins. So they almost don't look like knobs. The Mode knob in particular is awful in Echoboy. It just looks like a thin white line. Hardly a knob at all. I'm sorry, that's piss-poor contrast by any measure. It's not even something that should be up for debate. Any online contrast test will easily show the same result. Someone with a visual impairment would never be able to make out those elements. And if you're doing something like designing websites, particularly for anything requiring a certain level of compliance with disability standards, this is just basic stuff, and why contrast calculators exist in the first place.

Now compare that with Echoboy Jr. Still fairly low contrast but miles better. Because of the background color, you can clearly see the difference between the knobs and the background. All tick marks are visible, all knob positions are obvious. The "Mode, Time, and Glide" text is a little low contrast still, but overall it's a thousand times better than Echoboy (Sr.).

So Little Plate was more in the Echoboy Jr. style where visibility was much improved, but this new plate looks much closer to the bad GUI style of Echoboy (Sr.), which is a regression.

Not saying you wrong, it literally has just never bothered me personally.
The size does though.

Looks closer to Echoboy Jr to me - almost same knobs, clearer contrasts than the oldies

Actually I took a closer look and FET does have valid points, I just use them without dwelling on the interface.
But indeed the contrast on little plate and echoboy jnr makes them easier to read.

You beta test?

Why don’t ST do resizable?

Yes.
I have no clue why it hasn't been a priority.
I am sure it is in the works at some point.

And they're nice plugins, don't get me wrong. I thought Soundtoys had kind of learned from some of those early black-on-black GUI issues from the older plugins in later releases, so I was just surprised to see the "bad style" (IMO) return and regress in that regard.

I think almost everyone agrees that the entire lineup needs a GUI refresh, particularly for the old ones. I think the two things people are mostly looking for with a GUI refresh is: 1) improving contrast of elements and 2) resizable GUIs. And the two go hand-in-hand. I imagine if you're on a 4k display and the GUI's are too small, the lack of contrast really becomes a problem and exacerbates the size being problematic. Just seems odd to me to release a new plugin without taking #1 into account. I understand #2 may take a long time.

Got it, sounds very good.

Best feature: Auto-decay.
Worst feature: every one complaining about the gui

Plus I'd forgotten that the infinite mode still receives a signal - pretty rare for 'infinity' reverb tricks (from all them I've tried in the past)

Silenceborn wrote: Tue May 16, 2023 1:39 pm Ok I just logged on my Soundtoys account, and noticed that there is an upgrade offer and I obviously jumped on it:

"Get the new SuperPlate at a special intro price or as part of your Soundtoys 5.4 bundle upgrade. Save 40% and upgrade to the Soundtoys 5 bundle for only $29 thru June 14th. Check the Upgrade Offers tab for more info."

It's not even $59 for the v5.4 as said earlier. For the early birds it's even cheaper for only $29. Get on it while it lasts I guess lol
Thanks, that's a fair price to upgrade

Yeah, I wasn't going to bite at least initially for $59, but for $29 that's very fair. Looking forward to trying it tonight.

Is there an upgrade price for those of us who just own Effects Rack? I paid $129 for Effects Rack in a BF sale, and all I can see is paying $79 to get SuperPlate. So, I having paid 130 bux for 15 plugins in the rack, another 80 bux to add just one more is pretty steep!

Patience over the years allowed me to get the whole Soundtoys bundle for such a ridiculously low price that I’ve always felt a little guilty about it. This $29 upgrade was a no brainer. I’m just glad they’re still alive and hopefully this is a sign of more activity in the future.

Also updated for 29$, very fair price, thanks Soundtoys.
