My reverb needs are covered with the UAD EMT 130, Uad Lexicon 224, Capitol Chambers, Transatlantic Plate reverb, Tsar, Relab 480 and Sonsig, little plate, UVI spark, Valhalla Room and some I may have forgotten atm.
EMT130? I think you´re missing 10. :hihi:

Been comparing this to UVI Plate and IK Sunset Studio Reverb's plates. Well, UVI Plate is a completely different beast (sounds nothing like the others and is wholly unique) but it uses 6x the CPU of Sunset plate and 3x the CPU of Soundtoys SuperPlate when in 'insane' mode (the only mode I use on it basically).

UVI sounds much more like a synthetic ideal plate, which makes sense as that's basically what it is.

Soundtoys SuperPlate and IK Sunset plate are much closer to one another and I can't say which one I prefer. They are both excellent representations of real world plates.

One thing Soundtoys does well is with the extra controls. The modulation is awesome sounding as is the very unique and extremely useful "ducking" of the reverb tail length. It's super useful and pairs very well with dynamic sounds that you don't want to get smeary and congested while still being able to use super long decay times.

I do wish the "ducking" would go in the opposite direction too for creative weirdness, but it doesn't. It can only reduce the reverb decay, not increase it.

I also checked the phase coherency of the Soundtoys plate through VSX (Howie Weinbergs room) and it's very impressive. There's no smearing or weird phase anomalies heard. It's even, controlled yet characterful with a beautiful stereo image. Even when reduced down to mono it stays very intact without smearing or dips in the frequency response.

At 29$ upgrade this is definitely a no-brainer for me.

Oh and one more thing, the saturation on the preamp sounds absolutely awesome! Both the tube and the solid state thing. You can really drive it hard and get a very nice distorted input to the reverb which completely changes the character. It sounds completely different to the UVI Plate's drive control.. Soundtoys does it much better in my opinion.

Also, SuperPlate is true stereo while LittlePlate is summing the incoming audio to mono before processing. It's a shame SuperPlate doesn't have a pre/post button for the width control. Would be nice to be able to force it to mono summing in some situations.. now you got to do it yourself with a 3rd party plugin before the reverb.

I upgraded yesterday to add Superplate and haven’t had a lot of time with it so far, only tried it on some vocals. I’m pleased with the sound though. I don’t have a lot of other plate reverbs, just Valhalla and Arturia, I prefer Superplate to both of them so far. Valhalla Plate is nice but never gave me a plate vibe as such, just not ‘smooth’ enough to my ears, I like the Arturia one, but Soundtoys is more flexible. The different models, the ‘ducking’ feature that affects reverb length, and a built in eq is nice to have.

I think it’s a good and encouraging sign for the company, although I agree that they do move too slowly. The GUI doesn’t bother me as I’m not on a 4K monitor, and the colour scheme is fine for me as well. I understand other’s issues though and agree that resizing would be great. I do tend to upsize GUI’s when I can, although working at default size isn’t a big issue for me. My eyes do seem to be aging quicker than the rest of my body is. I’m sure these things will be implemented, they can’t ignore it forever, just a question of how long will it take. Maybe with a new plugin out they are focusing on updating the whole line now? New products are necessary to keep a company going, as is keeping up with the times and modern needs. Like a lot of other companies, sharing their plans more freely would be appreciated by a lot of us.

Any ideas why?
once you put your address in it might change. they had sales tax added to my upgrade price and once i put my address in (US state w/no sales tax) the tax was removed and price recalculated.

Thanks.

I actually wrote to ST who said it was due to their new payment system, that I shouldn’t have to pay tax (it already knew where I was and added tax in my local currency) and that they’d refund it if necessary.

Only when I pressed ‘confirm payment’ in PayPal did it recalculate and I didn’t finally get charged tax. All good in the end.

Anybody else using Firefox can't access their ST accounts, getting instead the 'Maintenance Mode' message?

I can log in just fine with Chrome and Vivaldi, but for some unknown reason I can't finish the upgrade purchasing in either of those after reaching the final step of the process. Also, I'm asked to pay $31.03...

I use firefox on mac intel.
I just tried, I got on fine.
Sorry.

Thanx for checking, zvenx!

Managed to make Firefox work (it was an installed extension that caused the problem), but still couldn't finish the purchasing process. Maybe it's a sign I'm not entitled to have SuperPlate in my arsenal...

No no, that is not the attitude :).
GAS!! you need it!!! :-)

You are most welcome :)

I believe it's really just the superplate addition, they are normally good with giving free updates for bugs etc. They finally gave an update for vst3 a few months back

Not here - here it's more like 4x, but only if modulation is enabled, which Sunset doesn't have in the first place. Otherwise it's more like 2x (or even less than that).

But then again UVI Plate is - quite unlike the Sunset - true stereo, which basically kind of explains (most of anyway) the remaining difference. That just goes to show how extremely optimized UVI Plate really is. :tu:
