Safe to remove the Usage File (XML)?

Seems like they're sharing the information with or at least via Google. Wondering if it's safe to delete the file, or if it would cause issues with the program. And if it is okay, will the software just auto-generate a new XML file?

Usage statistics can be turned off in the settings > maintenance section.
