MSaturator 3rd Harmonic Strange Behavior

I'm using MSaturator version 16.05 in Reaper 6.79.

Steps:
1. Load up the plugin.
2. Enable the Harmonics module.
3. Turn up the 3rd parameter to around 30% or more.

This is causing gain reduction on the meter. And has a unexpected audible effect. Harmonics 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th do not have the same effect.

Anyone else experiencing this? Am I misunderstanding something, and this is the intended effect?

idk but I wish MSaturator would let you dial in exact harmonics similar to Hornet Harmonics Pro is supposed to let you. That's useful some times.

Here's an audio example. The first 13 seconds has the harmonics section enabled with just the 3rd harmonic turned up to about 30%. The remainder of the clip, the harmonics section is disabled. I'm pretty sure this is a bug.

The thing is, harmonic generators based on Chebyshev polynomials (which I think is pretty much all, except for the MPolySaturator, which is spectral) work correctly only for sine waves, and ideally at 0dBFS. For everything else it's kinda more complex than that and can be a bit too brutal.

Thanks for looking into Vojtech. I think it might be a bug because the other harmonic parameters have a much different effect. Of course they should be different to some degree because they are different harmonics, but it seems like the difference goes beyond that. Here are some short audio clips.

Just default MSaturator harmonics disabled: https://archive.org/download/msaturator ... monics.mp3
MSaturator with just 2nd harmonic at 30%: https://archive.org/download/msaturator ... ercent.mp3

MSaturator with just 4th harmonic at 30%: https://archive.org/download/msaturator ... ercent.mp3

Well, it may seem like it, but it's kind of just a coincidence really. As I wrote before, there's no way (I'm aware of) of creating exact harmonics without spectral processing. The chebyshev polynomials work in more like a complex waveshaper way, which can have some odd effects depending on the signal.

Understood. Thanks again for looking into it.
