This one seemed to turn out better than I had any right to expect. It assumed substance once I added the drum and bass elementsPatchAdamz wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 6:07 pm Nice relaxing and meditative tune full of presence.
Clear recording, your production is evolving very nicely.
The drums are very nice, both musically and sonically.
Excellent track!
Thanks very much for the kind comments, PatchAdamz, and thanks very much for listening. Glad you enjoyed it

Ooops, the song is almost old - April 2023: "Return to the Glass Cliff": The title
sounds like fantasy - and that's how the song starts. An expansive synth breath pad
provides the sound basis. And yes: the bell always rings here and there.
All in all, the song is a kidnapping into a fantasy world for me, maybe even with a
glassy abyss. Beautifully made - one can revel in it.
I don't know if anyone has already said that: the bell bothers me a bit anyway.
In the last quarter the track becomes a bit more dynamic, a rhythm is indicated
by bongoes. Even a hihat is added.
Beautifully done - very relaxing and inspiring!

I think the impression of space here derives from my recent practice of using less instrumentation than I would have employed six or seven years ago. The slower pacing probably helped too.Allomerus wrote: Sat May 13, 2023 9:45 am I like this a lot Tim. It has great space to breathe. The infrequent bells add nicely to the feeling and add some tension with their dissonant harmonics. The human sounding pad is gorgeous. The percussion is just right too.
Well done!

The bells were an Absynth factory preset. I had to select the notes carefully, 'cos some of those harmonics didn't sound quite right. The vocal contribution to the pad originally came from a heavily reverbed SampleTank preset, which I PaulStretched in Audacity, and loaded the processed audio into the project via Iris2. I'm probably guilty of an over-reliance on that sound. The bongo/tom sound is all PM synthesis (Chromaphone), and the hats/castanets are a combination of Tremor/Microtonic.
Thanks very much for taking the time to listen and comment, John. Glad you enjoyed it

This was a casserole of synths, samples and whatnot. It took a little "brute force" to put the sounds together, but seemed to work out ok.jancivil wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 12:17 am excellent sound design, quite accomplished.
this is pretty in yer face to be "ambient". whatever, genre tags are for sorting record store bins.
When I had completed this, I realised that I had inadvertantly strayed into "New Age" territory, but was somewhat reluctant to admit the fact by incriminating myself
Thanks very much for listening and commenting, jan. I hope you enjoyed it

It's surely not as old as meenroe wrote: Fri May 26, 2023 4:19 pm Ooops, the song is almost old - April 2023: "Return to the Glass Cliff": The title

The song is written for the Temple on the Glass Cliff. You can see a picture of it on the first page of this thread, and it is certainly a fantastic/fantasy location.
I had some comments about the bell being too loud in the original SoundCloud upload. I remixed the track on the 14th of May, and the SoundCloud link is that updated version. The Bandcamp upload is the original.enroe wrote: Fri May 26, 2023 4:19 pm All in all, the song is a kidnapping into a fantasy world for me, maybe even with a
