FR: Increase MuDrum to 16 pads

I think it would make sense as most synths and controllers have 16 pads on them, 4 of which are currently wasted when using them with MuDrum.

You're not the only user requesting changes to MuDrum. There is a need to customize MuDrum towards personal needs & flavors. So it's my intention to open up MuDrum so it becomes a freely editable device, a standard MUX. Then you can make a MuDrum with 8 pads, 12 pads, 16 pads, 24 pads, ... Also the structure per pad should be customizable. At least that's the goal. The big challenge there is on GUI level, it will take work, but that work will lift the MUX Front Panel system. No ETA yet though.

Hi, would it be possible to add "Tab" element to the Group Frame?mutools wrote: Wed Jun 08, 2022 7:54 am (...) The big challenge there is on GUI level, it will take work, but that work will lift the MUX Front Panel system.

Is that a good idea, though? There are many drum pad plugins out there, at least three of them are free: Sitala, Poise and Shortcircuit. Sitala and Poise support 16 pads while Shortcircuit supports 88 and has a metric ton of features. Is it wise for the developers of a DAW to spend time making yet another drumpad?

It won't be yet another drumpad, the intention is to unlock MuDrum an MuSynth on a modular level so that everybody can customize it to own needs - this will also give more freedom while building a front panel as those devices have front panel features currently unavailable.lmv wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 1:54 am Is that a good idea, though? Apart from humanboeing's great reply, I'd like to add also, I do not want to have vst's for drums when I have a very capable drum sample player in MuLab!lmv wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 1:54 am Is that a good idea, though? What's the point in having MuDrum if everyone just uses Vst's? You may as well say, let's strip out everything you can get in a VST and concentrate on what isn't available! Doesn't make sense, does it?!
Take out all the synths, effects, even modules might as well go as plogue do a modular VST.
What about mixing? Can that be done elsewhere too? Perhaps some research into other apps that can do mixing might save some development time too!!!
How far do you go with this!
We don't all want a VST for every situation. Some of us are perfectly happy with MuLab's drum capabilities. It's just that most hardware has either 8 or 16 pads.
Personally, I have had many hardware and software synths and the best I've come across for drums is the MPC Live 2. Just my experience and opinion though. They're tight, clean and sound good without processing. But I still sample them and use them in MuDrum!

I love Mu Drum and Mu Synth. I would welcome tweak ability though.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.

No, it's the Drum Note Processor module that should be upgraded. It's on the wishlist but not for M9.1 anymore. And after M9.1 the plugin topic will be on the dev table and that will keep me busy for some time i'm afraid.

Oh, I thought you'd made MuDrum fully MuX now? Not used MuLab for a while, been busy sorting all those free Sylenth1 banks out. Extracting, renaming, reorganising and rebanking them! Still going!
