The hpf type 1 when fully open retains all it's bottom end , it acts more like a notch then a highpass filter .
I know the ms20 hpf is basically 1pole with a 2pole feedback but it hardly does any hp filtering

Yep, it always sounded somewhat strange, and I can't even remember why we did it that way and if the reference unit sounded like that.
Unfortunately we can't just swap it for something more HP-ish - it would break compatibility whenever people had used it in their presets or projects.
