Conforming clips to project tempo?

I have the same issue, too and I've been using clips in Tracktion for years. Suddenly after the update some loops conform but many do not. For me, the loops size changes or self-readjusts after I import it and when duplicating to the looped bars, exceeds the loop by a micron or two. This results in fractal micro-rhythms that are most cacophonous. Sometimes I can go in and painstakingly readjust the imported clips by hand but not always. This glitch is ruining my compositions.

The original post was started before the latest update and the latest update includes changes to audio clip import that auto-detects timing. So you're experiencing a new, different issue where the new auto-detect feature is getting things wrong. I hadn't tried it yet, so I've tried it now. it looks like loops with meta-data still work fine but loops without meta-data are detected except the length of the clips, as you've noted, are a little bit off. I just added two audio loops to a new Edit and one is a bit too long and the other too short.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

I am curious, though, as my knowledge of metadata is very limited. My impression of metadata was that it was simply labeling -- title, description and keywords on a file. How can those simple elements affect the clip's behavior within the DAW? Or is there is deeper level of metadata that can be injected into the clip using other means?

Basic audio editors can save basic metadata but some programs (I use Image-Line Slicex*) can save things like BPM, number of beats, slice points, and pitch. Waveform reads that information and can know how to fit the loop properly in your Edit.

If I understand things correctly, that's exactly what Acidized WAV files are: WAV files with loop-related metadata.

* Slicex does not play well with Waveform

Ah...that's what I was thinking. I had downloaded a program called Metadata++ recently, but I only checked it out quickly, didn't really take time yet to truly dive in. But I wanted a tool that could insert metadata permanently into my YT videos for informational purposes. I figured there had to be a good reason why folks were using these types of tools over simply changing the text of the details in a file's property section.

Thanks
