The plugin by itself is pretty cool, but there's a specific sound I want, using another synth. Having trouble properly routing the synth track with the vocal (with TAL-Vocoder on it) so they'll blend properly.

I've watched instructionals with it being done in Reaper, but can't quite get it going in Tracktion.

Here's the Rack way to do it. When it's in a Rack, TAL Vocoder has four inputs. The first two are left and right for the Audio input. The second two are left and right for the Sidechain input. Put the Rack on two tracks. Put a synth before one of them. Set TAL Vocoder's input mode to Audio C / SC M (Audio input = Carrier, Sidechain = Modulator).

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Man, I just wanna say, you have been so helpful, and I thank you. For so many years, I focused solely on my guitar playing, and the recording process was something I left to others. So, it's really showing itself to be an entire craft of its own. I honestly never had a clear grasp on the mechanics of routing. The idea of it is clear, but I just never put the time into mastering the mechanics. This pretty easily clarifies the procedure.

Will give it a go.

It's always fine to use some rich synth or even distorted sound as the modulator. The noise in that preset helps to pronounce "s, c, t, ..." .
