Changing the directory where projects and edits are saved...

I want to change the directory where my wok is saved. Out of the box, TW has been saving my projects and edits to the directory where I downloaded the TW installation file, which is far from ideal, because my projects folders are mixed in with hundreds of other, unrelated folders - and it's a slow HDD. How do I change it? In TW settings, I see the options to change the "temporary directory" and the "Quick render location". Should I change both of these to the new directory I have made for my TW saves? (I'm not sure what the "temporary directory" and the "Quick render location" are for, exactly; I searched the user manual but found no clarification.) Many thanks.

When you create a new project - you can choose the location. I think this persists and is the default for any new projects until you change it again. By the way, very glad you found the audio for your missing Project. I guess your .tracktion file got corrupted in some way.

Thanks; Yes I too, guess it got corrupted. Very relieved to recover my work! Thanks for the input on this folder-choosing question; I will do what you said.operandx wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:29 am When you create a new project - you can choose the location. And you can also move a project from one folder to another. It's an option in the control panel in the project selection tab/page.
By the way, it's a good idea to save any imported samples/loops within the project rather than just link to external files for a related issue. If they are saved within the project you can move it wherever you wish safe in the knowledge you won't lose the link to the source files. Although the links SHOULD update, I wouldn't trust it to happen. Even worse, if you move the source files you would definitely break the links from the project so it's not worth taking the risk

Thank you for clarifying this. I hadn't noticed that there's an option to move a project from one folder to another. Yes, I too am reluctant to move the source files, for fear of causing a SNAFU.Dark Lane wrote: Sat Jul 01, 2023 10:47 am And you can also move a project from one folder to another.
