Have only noticed it being light on CPU. Must depend on what engine is being used.
And which effects.
Amongst my machines i run Omni on a 2014 dell i7 running windows 7, with a whopping 8G Ram, i have to program up a storm to put a dent in CPU. RAM on the other hand...
I have a 2014 i5MBP, now retired. When it played Omni, it would use anywhere from 5 to 50% of the CPU. It all depends on the patch. But yeah, I can do anything with 4GB RAM except run audio plugins. They all seem to start at 500Mb just to instantiate anymore.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Xpand2! really is the Omnisphere killer
Xpsnd2! sounds like crap and it wasn't worth the $1 I spent on it.
Conversely, I love 1 particular sound so much in this synth, that alone makes it worthwhile.

Which one?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I tell you this about Omnisphere. You pay 400 euros and you get a USB flashdrive with year 2002 speeds of 1MB/s to install how many? 50GB of data (too lazy to check)? It takes entire day at this speed. And I am sure my USB was not faulty. I checked their website for online download and it was barely above 1.5MB/s in speed. Seriously, for this reason it deserves all the hate it has apart from being very much worth it software for anybody creating electronic music. I spend 20 hours installing this damn thing and troubleshooting.

The slow online download speeds is a proof that they did this all on purpose of reducing download speeds to sub 1MB/s. What purpose? I do not know but it is on purpose and for that I despise this company. Even though software itself is okay and I use it almost everyday. /end rant

I had the USB Keyscape version which worked fine. I also download at fast speeds routinely, so no idea what’s been happening with you - sorry for your (speed) loss though.

Copy the Steam folder to its rightfulplace (~75GB). Then, copy the plugin itself over. When you instantiate it, you'll have to register it and then update it. Thankfully, the Intel version ran fine on my M1 Mac and the update made it native. I've transfered the install over a few times like this. My USB install drive is... uh... somewhere?

Sounds like maybe you got a bad drive. Normal install speed should be around 20min. If you reach out to Spectrasonics support they'll likely replace it for you right away. They can probably help you optimize download speed too. Email is info@spectrasonics.net (mailto:info@spectrasonics.net)

Hi Propellerhands, Chris from Spectrasonics here.

Although it’s outside of our normal business hours, I saw your post and wanted to reach out to you here.

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re experiencing some installation issues. I can certainly understand how this can be tough to deal with, and can promise we’ll do everything we can to get you up and running ASAP!

Your USB drive should not take that long to install. A download from your user account is typically the quickest fix if you happen receive a bad USB, and then we’d offer to send you a working USB as well.

Since the download option isn’t working for you, we’ll be more than happy to expedite a working USB to you ASAP (we’ll test it before sending it your way).

Could you do me a favor and send an email to info@spectrasonics.net (mailto:info@spectrasonics.net) with a small description of this situation? First thing Monday morning, when our full staff is in the office, we’ll be sure to expedite a working USB to you.

Thanks in advance for your patience, we certainly appreciate you and your time!
