What happens if I don’t renew my Play4Life Ultimate sub before redeeming my two Loyalty keys? There are several years of posts here indicating that’s fine and you can still redeem them with your free account any time, but if Roland has seemingly made changes to how this works, I’d like to know now.

That still works, I just did it yesterday thinking I could play around with the D-50 and then change it to something else. But as I would find out that last part about switching doesn't work anymore, so just make sure you redeem the exact synth you want. Or keep the key in your account for future use, which is what I was doing. No need for an active subscription.

Thanks for the reply and the confirmation that it still works. My subscription is up in a month, so I’m doing due diligence now. For what it’s worth, the D-50 is the best of the much, IMO. Not only is it iconic, but it’s the only one that properly handles sysex files (which honestly is something I’d have expected all of them to do).

Totally agree, the D-50 is great, the patch browser could really do with an update though. It's just that I don't really *need* a D-50 in my music, and I was saving my last key hoping Roland would release a JP-8000 or something I have more use for in the future. Alas...

I wonder what level of subscription has to be maintained now in order to switch keys? I’d probably keep Core if that’s sufficient.

eBay is running P4L ads in the banner, but clicking on one just took me to my Roland Cloud login so never saw a P4L page. Is this an old outdated ad or one advertising a new promotion that got posted up too early?

I’ve been comparing the JV-1080 and XV-5080 VSTs, and the display on the XV-5080 seems to have a bug. The bank name and patch name write to the same part of the screen, rendering the text illegible. The same converted banks on the JV-1080 don’t have that problem. Surely this has been reported to Roland. I’m new here, but this must be a known issue, right?

Do you happen to know the best way to report bugs with Roland Cloud apps? I don’t see a way to submit bugs in the Roland Cloud Manager or in the VST.

I wonder if there's any difference between Zenology Pro with all SRX to the 1080/5080 plugins and individual SRX plugins. Are there any ommissions? Because I consider the Zenology route for this vintage stuff (I know it has additional contemporary capabilities)

They're close, but the SRX/5080 series had more advanced capabilities, including reverb. The Zenology Pro equivalent have the same waveforms, and sound pretty close. If you compare the "Dance" expansion, you can hear the difference from the first patch. Also, Zenology is missing maybe 100-200 patches from the entire collection (not sure why).

I know Zenology has reverb now, but the XV patches haven't been updated to take advantage of it.

That is what is bothering me when it comes to the Zenology Pro Presets.

They used Adsr Release as a replacement for Reverb on most of their presets which gave many of the presets a mushy sound when you play Chords or play fast riffs making the release tail fight for attention.

I noticed this when i tried to compare Zenology Pro with Roland MV-1 with the same presets in a song.

I could'nt figure out why every sound got washed out and did'nt have the punch that the MV-1 had and then i noticed The heavy use of Release on those presets and when i turned that down and added Reverb they sounded the same.

This is crazy. Sounds like something that must be fixed, how could they have crippled it this way.

They did not have reverb available on their supposed top of the line soft synth for 2 years!

So if I get it right, for 2 years straight, instead of adding the much required reverb that they could implement easily, they chose to manipulate all the PCM sounds' envelope release rate, and until today this was not fixed - seriously, Roland personnel who follow this thread - please, make sure this is being taken care of.

Yes and kept releasing 100+ preset packs most of whose presets sounded dead.

About the LCD display bug on the XV5080, be certain it gets put on a weekly list somewhere. And not to be looked at it ever again, but hey, that's just Roland. "designing the future" with a 10 year delay (and some bugs).

So now I am trying out v2 of the jupiter 8. Version 1 didn't wow me and then I got the Tal one and stopped searching.

But is there an arp speed on the roland cloud Jupiter 8? I know the hardware has one and the Tal one has one but I can't seem to find it on the Roland Cloud Jupiter 8 v2...
