Is there a way to quickly associate a track with a specific parameter from a module in M9?

Back in M8 you were able to a drag a parameter onto a track to immediately assign it to the module's parameter (the track would get an automatic name like "Basic Synth - Wet/Dry").

But in M9 tracks seem to only be assignable to modules (with a name like "Basic Synth"). You can drag parameters into the timeline view which creates a clip associated with the parameter, but I've found that only parameters for the track's assigned module can be dragged in this way and not sub-modules, which is especially confusing when some of the sub-modules controls are added to the top level module's front panel.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Certainly not a bug.

Also in M8 you could not mix parameter automations of different modules on a single track.
In M8 you could even not mix different parameters of the same module on a track.
M9 is more flexible there: It allows to mix different parameters automations of the same module on a single track.

I understand your feedback.
It's a consequence of MuLab's modular structure, which has many advantages, maybe in this case it needs to get used to it a bit. But again, M9 certainly is more flexible than M8 wrt parameter automations and M9 does not loose anything from M8.

Does this help?

Also note that if a track only has automation clips, then drawing a new automation clip will automatically set it to the same parameter as the other clips.

Thanks for such a quick response.
I can definitely see the advantages, I'll just have to reset my muscle memory!
I've been playing about a bit more and found that I can drag any parameter to the new track button, which creates a new clip for the parameter on a new track, so that's essentially what I was after.

Yes, so you don't need to update your muscle memory as that's the same move as in M8, right?

I would typically create a subtrack with right click under the track that belonged to the top level module and then drag the parameter to the newly created track. Now I'll have to drag the parameter to the new track button and then move the track into place. But yes, it's close enough that I'll manage :)

I see. Taken note to finetune this further in some next update: Dropping a param on an empty subtrack should be similar to dropping a param to the new track button.
