Features you'd like to see in future versions...

Two features I'd love, would be:
1) to be able to mark individual tracks, during playback of a project, rather than using markers on the marker track (which seems awkward to me, and doesn't clarify what each marker is for, or which track it refers to).
2) the ability to add sticky memo notes onto tracks would be great, (so I can type a note to myself at any point on a track.
3) The ability to playback a project at a slow speed of my choosing. (It would be really useful when trying to locate an unwanted click or pop on the recording.)

There is the Text Plugin (in Waveforrn ->Utility menu). So can apply this to a track or indeed any audio clip.

I will often use blank audio clips on tracks asl "stickies" to highlight problem areas, or as temporary markers or reminders. Just drag a blank clip onto the track and rename it. The Text plugin is better for longer notes, of course.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Thank you; I just found that! (Thanks to Watchful, also.)operandx wrote: Sun Jul 09, 2023 10:17 am There is the Text Plugin (in Waveforrn ->Utility menu). So can apply this to a track or indeed any audio clip.
So, to use this to place something like a sticky note at some point on a track, you'd have to add a new track, then create a new clip on the new track, in the place where you want to add a memo, and drag the text plugin to that clip, correct? If so, yes, this does do what I wanted... albeit in a somewhat fiddly way. I'd love it if I could just click on some point on a track and hit a shortcut key and a small icon would appear on the track. Click on the icon and a small text popup window appears, that you can read or type into. But, hey, I'm just envisaging; I don't know how feasible it would be for the devs to add such a feature.

You are right, it is a bit fiddly. The clip has to be audio to 'attach' the plugin to it, so use a blank one. I like your idea of putting text notes on the timeline, don't know if that is easily doable. Do any other DAWs have that feature?

You can put the Text plugin on any track, putting in tons of information in the body of the plug in (upper track), or change the name value to add text directly to the plug in (lower track).
I find it quicker to drop in the blank audio clip and just rename it. I can position this anywhere in the song, right under a problem area, or even on top of another clip.

Yes. Neither seems ideal, but certainly better than no options at all.Watchful wrote: Tue Jul 11, 2023 11:53 pm You can put the Text plugin on any track, putting in tons of information in the body of the plug in (upper track), or change the name value to add text directly to the plug in (lower track).

Hi, just installed Waveform. One feature I notice right away that would be great is FONT SIZE control. I can barely read what's on the screen (32in monitor). I tried the usual font tricks (ctrl+mouse wheel) but nothing seems to work.
Also a tutorial video for FIRST TIME INSTALLS. I have no concept of what "Validate plugins" means, I figured it has to do with loading all my virtual instruments and plugins? So I selected all, and once it was done, it looks like it's only done for ONE (1) vst/vsti plugin. There is no message after the operation to confirm that all is well, and that I can start making music.
Not as simple as I hoped...
Thanks!

There's loads of videos on YouTube on Waveform like this one:
You don't need to worry about Validate Plugins. It just runs a validator program to check if a plugin has been coded properly to vst spec, usually only useful if a plugin is crashing WF and it can confirm if the plugin has errors. I never use plugin Sandboxing though, if a plugin crashes WF I get rid of it. All properly coded plugins seem to work fine YMMV on that I guess.

Validate will verify that they are compatible and respond correctly.
I think one issue you have is that the plugins may be installed into non-default locations, so aren't being found. Settings / plugins; and then under Scanning - check for new or updated will present a list of folders. Make sure the folders where your plugins ARE, are present in the list for VST and VST3. Scanning only scans in the configured locations; typically c:\program files\common files\vst2 and c:\program files\steinberg\vstplugins ... also many 64-bit plugins can still reside in c:\program files(x86)\common files, etc.

Ah, yes, I see. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to track where KOntakt is installed, because I don't see it in the list.Peter Widdicombe wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 9:59 pm Validate will verify that they are compatible and respond correctly.

So, what about the GUI, then? FONT SIZE is a big issue for this old man... It makes Waveform nearly impossible to navigate...
