Evolution Steel String, strumming patterns - where to place change of chord MIDI notes

Hi everyone,

I have a question about strumming patterns using Evolution Steel Strings. This probably sounds really picky but where's the best place to play/place the change of chord MIDI notes to achieve a clean sound/change of chord?

Say I have a strum pattern where the chord needs to change on the 1-and; should I play the MIDI notes exactly on the 1-and? Or just before?

I'd like tips here too. Trying to iron out glitchy chords with dropped notes, and maybe extra ones.
