Doesn't matter what the cause, the exploitation of using the word "charity" here is enough to make any one see through their deceptive marketing in selling an inferior offering.

They're really digging themselves into a hole.

It's not like people that mess with traditional ideas of gender roles are, or have been historically, underrepresented in the music industry, indeed it's often seen as an interesting marketing and commentary angle.

Given that anyone with a computer and internet connection could potentially write, record, mix, publish, promote and distribute their music, I'm not sure exactly how being female or "gender-expansive" would be a hindrance any more. I could understand it when access was determined by usually male gatekeepers but that's not the case any more as far as I'm aware.

Maybe just helping out people who have genuine issues with accessing such technology, you know like poor kids or something, just isn't as worthy any more.

Thoughts on the organization they are giving proceeds to aside - seems a bit of a "scummy" bargain - more of a placeholder till real sales start again, with that classic donation marketing twist. Since BBG is a registered 503cb charity, NI could just donate the $$$ outright, tax deductible, but that doesn't help move older plugins.

I do hope it makes a difference though, I for one, am kind of tired of not knowing of any successful female artists in music.
