Predicting it ahead of time makes this easier but I doubt there's any way to consistently do this. Convincing yourself you don't care can be dangerous as it might mean losing touch with your actual feelings. Then you're suddenly overreacting to something else.
I guess why it is so hard to give a really low score is due to the fact that in essence music are feelings, and hurting the feelings of others is always a big no no.
At least for me!

In defense of me getting low scores from others:

1. I hardly put in the actual effort I could, improvised from scratch mostly in one day. So FEEL free to give a low score, no hard FEELINGS :P But if I were to put in a lot of effort, pouring in all my energy into the entry track and then got plenty of 2s, I'd naturally be a little upset.

2. In a wider context I'm sure plenty here have experienced far worse things in life than getting a low score from making a track with a deadline.

Also a virtuoso in music does not impress me the slightest, for all I know the person could also be the biggest asshole of all time.
I also have no clear cut view of what is ”good” and ”bad” music, a simple house track with a nice groove can give me better feelings than some super fast progrock guitarist wanker. ;)

Taste in music also changes all the time. So something that used to be great is maybe not so anymore and what one used to think was bland some years ago is all of a sudden great. :ud:

In no way I am suggesting to convince yourself (or pretend) about anything. I am just suggesting that you should get it more lightly and that music tastes differ and sometimes what you think is good may not sound that good to others for various reasons.

It's all good. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

....maybe my equal distribution voting system is a bad idea. Even though I've said that everyone still did good (and meant it.) In the past I have just used 3 to 5. I should probably just stick with that and resist these idealistic impulses.
