Hi, I'm a not so experienced producer, who absolutely loves experimenting with sounds and sound design. I had an idea for a plugin where it takes two sets of audio, and mixes them both, for example: you have a recording of a bass playing a riff, and also a an agressive synth playing the same. I want a plugin to be able to mix these two, taking the characteristics of the synth and making a more distorted bass sound than before.

I was using chat gpt to try develop my idea and came up with a few key points, which led me here, is there anyone that could help me understand if this is a good idea, a possible idea, and how can i create it. I have no experience in coding etc, so would need someone to code it for me, I'd be willing to pay if people found it worth.

Here's the chat gpt conversation: https://chat.openai.com/share/506c9c9c- ... f922abeb80 (ps. I quite like the name BlendMorph haha)

Also if there is any plugin developers that like this idea, i am willing to go more in detail and possibly work towards a development plan for this.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

dont worry im not obviously that serious, just was interested in talking to someone with experience to see if such an idea was possible in the first place :)

might want to amend the title of the thread then, given that it says the opposite.

I didn‘t come across this yet, watched the video and thought, techniques I could probably get with sidechains and a shaperbox. For streamlined workflow, I‘d consider it only eventually if its in the price range of 30 maybe. Then looked at the price and its booked under toys for super rich who don‘t care about its real value… I should recreate it in Bitwigs grid, it would pay for the complete Bitwig package and still couldn‘t do a fraction of what I can do in Bitwig with just stock devices…

I was serious about the idea, and asking out for any opinions on it, as mentioned in “serious plug-in idea”, i never once asked for a developer to code it for example, only to give advice and if they were willing to talk more in depth about it, could help me understand if this was a practical idea to develop :)

so the thread i pointed you at (which is about not assuming professional developers will work for you for free) doesnt makes you reconsider whether professional developers will do consultation work for free?

There are a ton of papers discussing about morphing of sounds and how its needs to be different than a crossfade. They reach back maybe 50 years. The title suggest, you think you had an idea for the first time in history… A developer wouldn‘t even want to point you to such papers…
I have some old issues of the computer music journal, I am willing to sell them for cheap, but you would have to pick them up in Berlin…

so you know how to use chatgpt to explore the idea, but not google to see if it had already been done or not?

I have developed a programmable plugin, and gave it for free in this site (here: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/crescendo-by-bjt2).
It can, among many things, combine multiple sounds as you wish, giving the mathematical formula.
