Full Screen Help BUGGED - Locks Computer !!!

Windows 10, Ableton Live 11, Opened a Help window from MAutoPitch and accidentally clicked Full Screen button. Once it's full screen, none of the buttons work, it won't let ANY other program display on top of it, and you can't switch away from it. Alt-Tab to select another program - the program IS selected, but Help won't let it show. Used Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up Task manager to close it - even THAT wasn't allowed to show!!! The only solution is to log out using Ctrl-Alt-Del and start over again.

This is Truly annoying. Please fix.

It happens the same to me in FL Studio 90% of the times I click maximize button in every Melda plugin... I have to kill the DAW task in the task manager.
Sadly, for me maximize button is always unusable.

Dear chrisw63,

I am not able to reproduce the issue under any mentioned DAW (tried many different settings in Window 10 64bit). We have quite a lot of open GUI problems in Ableton DAW (bugs on their side) and this one could be related to one of them. In order for me to find the cause of the issue, it would help if you could provide me with these details:

1. Number of screens, its resolutions
2. Windows DPI settings
3. Melda plugins scale settings (settings / style / size , if not default 100%)
4. GPU acceleration ON/OFF, GPU card type
5. Ableton exact version
6. Ableton HDPI ON/OFF
7. Ableton Plugin Auto scale ON/OFF

or Anything that could help me to reproduce the issue, if you have any other special setup. Thank you in advance, we will definitely look at it.

I send you my case in case it helps too:

2. Windows DPI settings: 100% scaling
3. Melda plugins scale settings: 100%
4. GPU acceleration ON/OFF, GPU card type: Enabled, NVIDIA GeFotce RTX 2060
5. DAW: FL Studio 21 (it have been happening since years for me though)

I have two screens, one 1080P and one 2k (2560 x 1440).
Windows DPI settings are default, 100%, no custom scaling
Melda plugins scale is also default, 100%
I don't know how to check if GPU acceleration is on or off, at least outside of a browser. NV GTX 1080.
Ableton 11.3.4
HDPI is on. I have Zoom Display to 150% on my 2k screen.
Ableton Plugin Auto Scale is On.

Thanks! Yep - GPU Acceleration is on, 60 FPS, and high DPI support is also on.

Hello Guys,

at this moment I am not able to reproduce the issue (date 18.7.2023) on my testing machine. I am also not aware somebody ever reported this.

My setup:
Windows 10 64 Bit - up to date, 2 screens, FullHD & 4k
FLStudio 21 / Ableton Live 11 up to date
Nvidia RTX 3060Ti - drivers up to date
All default settings, GPU ON.
Scaling 100% in Win, Plugins, HiDPI ON
Tested also with many other different settings like scaling, DPI, HiDPI... - both DAWs, more plugin, opening help with button or double click on the top of the window with Melda 16.07, no luck to reproduce.

Additional questions:
- window taskbar autohide is ON/OFF? I suggest to test it with this feature OFF.
- Nvidia drivers up to date? Is there any OC applied on GPU? I suggest to disable OC on GPU.
- Does it happen with GPU OFF? For this you need to restart DAW. Please test.
- Second graphic card (the integrated one, if any) ON/OFF?
- Are you able to test with the second graphic card?
- can you check windows system event messages (event viewer), if there is any weird message in either applications or system when this happens?

My first feeling is it has something to do with GPU, your reply will help us to move forward.

Just updated to Melda 16.07, and I don't have the issue any more.

Hello,

good news, of course I did expect you use version 16.07:-) Let's wait for vanerio, if he resolved it with the plugin update or my GPU tips as well.

I have certainly tested it with version 16.07 and I have only been able to reproduce the error 1 time.
I have the taskbar autohiding and GPU acceleration enabled, which is how the bug happened to me a moment ago. But as I have not been able to reproduce it more times, I don't know the influence that these options could have.
I'll let you know in this thread if it happens to me again or if I can dig a little more in the causes.
For now thank you very much for your interest, Martin!

Unfortunately this morning I tried again, and it happened on the first attempt...Had to manually kill the process again
It is somehow unpredictable

Dear vanerio,

sorry to hear that. Please follow my tips with GPU and auto-hide taskbar feature. I know that NVidia GPUs can cause under certain circumstances troubles (when going to fullscreen), if something is corrupted.

If disabling GPU acceleration or avoiding taskbar autohide helps (as I understand from your message), I prefer to keep these options ON and avoid using the full screen as I have been doing for a long time.

But If you think this can have a solution other than that, please let me know if you need any testing.

Thanks Martin
