I'm as big fan of U-He. I even wrote some of the stock presets for it. The point remains though, other developers like U-He do experience technical debt that slows things to a crawl
I cannot comment on all companies. I can say that development at u-he has not slowed to a crawl. Whatever technical debt is there, they handle it and keep coming up with fresh new capabilities. There's been lots of new stuff from u-he in the past few years.

It is a stark contrast to NI on the synth and fx side.

U-he and NI almost seem to be at somewhat opposite ends in their focus. U-He has committed to the development of Zebra, however slow, and they've been making relatively few but interesting and very well designed synths/effects.
NI on the other hand seem to have abandoned their unique creations that are versatile in terms of sound design possibilities, e.g. FM8 and absynth, and have opted for more media composer stuff - instruments/expansions/sample packs that are somewhat specialized and provide fast results within a specified genre or niche.
Apart from Massive x, this has been the trend with all of their releases in the past few years. Kontakt will survive everything of course, and when it comes to Reaktor I'm hoping for the best.

Btw reaktor blocks are still insanely good, for me the best software modular thing that I've heard.

You could just as easily interpret that as U-he having run out of ideas and regurgitating old stuff, couldn't you? I mean, when was the last time U-he released a brand new synth?
There is stuff happening that is not made public yet , but yeah keep on complaining about a developer that keeps updating stuff .
Btw , the new filterscape + filterscape va is awesome (can’t say more )
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

BONES has left the chat.

Maybe the rest of us can moan and be sad in a slightly more civil way.

It was for years, that users asked NI to further develop the FM8, they just left it as it was, now it is kind of obsolete and users have moved to other and better products.

zerocrossing wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:27 am You know, at one time I was similarly angry with Arturia. Crappy dull sounding plugins that just seemed to be trying to make some money off pictures of classic instruments. But something happened and now I literally own every plugin they make and a PolyBrute. So, I’m not saying that NI can do a similar turn-a-round, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility. Someone with a ledger just needs to see that there will be some money in it for them. Also, it’s not like they’re not doing anything cool. A lot of those scripted Kontakt instruments are pretty interesting, and Reaktor is still Reaktor, and by that I mean great. I also have rekindled my fondness for Guitar Rig, and they released a new fuzz for it that’s good. So, it’s not like they’re dead. Just very drowsy.
What happened is that Arturia regained control of their company around 2017 by buying back shares they had previously sold to a VC firm.

... The full context of his post being the following:
Since switching to Apple Silicon Macs, I have nothing from NI installed. That is not a point of principle, but a practical choice.
So, he owns the software, but the lack of development means using it is impractical since switching to Apple Silicon. Does he not have your permission to complain, despite being a customer of NI?

https://support.native-instruments.com/ ... ility-News

As you can see, almost all NI products run Native on Apple Silicon. Only a few really old ones don't, but i doubt that he keeps trolling here because his Traktor DJ 2 only runs on Rosetta.
