I need to check the Kilohearts again :)
That guy's clearly an idiot with an axe to grind. I have all those plugins, and I can guarantee you that they don't sound as good as BB Tubes, especially Decapitator with it's noticeable aliasing. Thanks for promoting misinformation! :tu:
Indeed. What I find ironic is all these "counter culture" youtube people who try to ride the 'look at me! I'm clever and against the establishment' bandwagon eventually all fall for the same things. Being absolutely clueless and eventually sellouts.. case in point Whitesea Studios snake oil dude. He is such a goof and now he is a sell out.

.. and their audience is always the same. Clueless audio beginners or salty veterans of the trade who never were able to get better at their craft, or people just watching it for the entertainment value (I'm guilty of that. It's a bit of a hobby of mine to watch these and get a good chuckle at the poor sods trying to be clever and all).

As for transformer emulations, check out IK Multimedias Saturator X. It has two quite interesting transformer models included. As far as I know, it's the only "just the wound transformer core" option out there in plugin land, meaning you can NOT make it distort in any way at all. It's literally just the wound core itself modeled with no other electronics at all in between.

Yeah, there’s also some other dude who trashed it. Some Irish or maybe Scottish dude. Anyway, he’s clearly using it incorrectly in the demo as he points out it’s not doing anything. He did actually point out the oversampling bug, which Waves quickly corrected.

I find it’s especially funny that this jerk chose Decapitator, though. That thing aliases like a stuck pig. Anyone doing a fair comparison would hear this. Soundtoys should really get their act together and offer some kind of oversampling on it.

I never promoted this guy, as I just saw the video. The point was, that those stupid videos with the "game changing" slogans are laughable BS. And you know that...
I have so many saturation plugins and most of them sound very good on their own.
Btw, if you think that Decapitator aliasing as "hell", then you haven't tried Rob Papen plugins....

SSL Fusion Transformer is another one I can think of like that. Subtle stuff.

Keep in mind that the Kush Omegas arent really Transformers but made to 'transform' their clean Omega Mic Pre. I believe they are modeled after Neve, Api and some Altec Tube thingy.

They all sound very good though, especially when micro dosed and often even cascaded.

I believe that BLYSS has modeled Input/Output Transformers, which would be my recommendation to check out (also for the superb Multi stage saturation).

Another Transformer would be their REDDI, but this also adds a bit of Tube saturation.

None here because I generally don't apply the same effect to every track.
My bus channels usually have the SSL MixFX in S1 Pro.
