Novation V-Station, TC Mercury-1, GMedia Oddity, Arturia Modular V, Audiorealism ABL Pro, Andreas Ersson polyIblit, Waldorf Attack, NI FM7, LinPlug RMIV.

Zebra 2 was also released by 2007 so v1 had been around. And yeah sylenth1, rp albino and blue 1, absynth, fm7, arturia mini/arp2600/cs80 and gforce synths and of course Reaktor.

How could I forget Imposcar. Lots of Wusik stuff and there was an another Rompler, started with an A or an E (I think). Purity was one of the best.

Did anyone mention H.G. Fortune synths? Oh they're still amazing quirky instruments now.

Vaz, Z3ta+, ImpOscar - those were the first I remember liking the way they sounded. I did not like early Arturia stuff at all.

I like early 90s (Goa) Trance. I'm sure that the OP is thinking of some other kind of music, also called Trance.
Pretty sure they are asking about tarnce. It was confused with trance, and was massively popular on kvr ca 2006. The answer the OP is looking for is thus sylenth1.

Tone 2 Firebird. Also Concrete FX, Big Tick, Linplug, all paired with the great Wizoo:

Wizooverb W2 nice reverb for its time. Also lost to the 32 bit past.

Are you thinking of Spectrasonics' Atmosphere? That was a definitely a nice rompler for trance pads (and many other genres).

I only use freeware, everything else is too wimpy for me.

I had Odo synths, Novaflash, Nekrobat made a bunch on the Synthmaker forum, the developer challenges were good at first, less cheesy.

I hung around in (and played at, although, strangely, i'm not a big fan of) many Psytrance and Goatrance events between '97 and '07. My good friends, DJ/producers were mostly using trackers or hardware.
I was using only hardware until 2001(?) when someone showed me Reason which i got soon afterward and then i was prowling about NAMM trade show the next January and i went to the NI booth. An engineer at NI had just fished talking with someone. He asked me (in a thick Berlin accent) "wanna see something cool?" Yeah, definitely. He proceeds to play a keyboard into a Reaktor ens and i think "oh wow, that is cool" and Then he opened up the builder window :!: I remember that moment so clearly. I was blown completely into synthesizer heaven. (mind you i'm a modular synth player (live and garage back then) and builder. He showed me the software equivalent of my home electronic workshop. Bought it the next day and (virtually) wired up a Triple LFO (with all of the bells and whistles) in one evening. Two or three weeks of a few hrs a day of soldering and testing condensed into one night (to be fair it was probably a long night).
After Reaktor i was set for a bit. (I often think i could have stopped there).
I got Tassman (which also kept me happy busy),. I think i used just Reaktor and Reason for two years, then Ableton Live or NI Komplete (?) or just Absynth then Komplete. Plus all sorts of stuff like Triple Cheese, Chimera, lots of Reaktor UL, HG Fortune, freeware (others), CM early stuff (mid 2000s).
Wow those were heady times for me and i think music software in general.
Are you thinking of Spectrasonics' Atmosphere? That was a definitely a nice rompler for trance pads (and many other genres).
I didn't use it until years later (as Omnisphere. i suppose iy was "just" a rompler back then?

Yeah, Atmosphere was just a rompler, but they included the entire sample library in Omnisphere, which opened it up to all of Omni's synthesis power.
