Using Waveform OEM, version 12.5 on a Windows 10 laptop. All files are recorded into Tracktion via a Behringer UMC22 DAW other than some .wav files for the drums.
I have a problem with rendering sometimes. The whole thing flatlines in the progress. It doesn't matter whether I try and do it stem by stem, disable the plugins, mute various tracks, cut and paste to a new template, nothing seems to work.
I had a look in the waveform.settings file which said:
<VALUE name="renderEngine" val="0"/>
As far as I'm aware (no, I'm not particularly tech savvy...), from other research, this appears to be correct.
I don't wish to spruik my own YouTube channel, but I did a video showing what happens to certain projects when trying to fix this problem and by being visual, it probably shows and explains the issue better than I can.
Seriously, any help would be greatly appreciated. I've various projects I would like to finish off and can't do so until I find a way to fix this.
Flatlining render problem - not rendering at all

The first thing that comes to mind is automation - had it accidentally been turned on at one time, during a mixing session where these were turned down ?

First of all, please create an archive of this project. I have had a sneaking suspicion that there is something weird that sometimes happens with automation and in every case people have solved there problem and not looked back, which means a file with a problem has never been submitted to the devs to investigate. I think there is a weird automation that is either never made visible by the user or can never be made visible and only gets read when rendering. But who knows? They solve their problem and move on.
Now some questions just to clarify.
1. The problem is sometimes meaning in some Edits but not others, or sometimes in one particular Edit it renders empty but other times in that one Edit it renders fine?
2. The Edit can be heard when it's just being played normally? It's only the render that's silent?
The most likely culprit isn't CPU, it's something in the master track. You don't seem to show that in your video, except a little bit at one point that seems to show that the meter isn't moving. The track meters are bouncing but the master meter is not. I think. Or else it's very low.
Try disabling the plugins in the master one at a time to see if one of them is causing a problem.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Another possibility is that if you are using a demo VST plugin in your project, could it be rendering silence when you go to do the render as a limitation of the demo plugin ?
Is it just rendering as 'mp3' that causes this issue ? If so maybe you don't have the mp3 codecs required on your system. If you are able to play mp3 files in Waveform then this will not be the problem.
can you try another audio driver in the settings to see if that makes a difference ?
