Not sure if I got a steal or not (or if I really needed to purchase it), but I found a Prophet-6 listed in mint condition on Reverb for $1499.

Yeah, that's a steal, assuming it has no issues. I assume it's the desktop version?

Surprisingly it had the keyboard!

Once you play that keyboard, you might not want to give it up. Fortunately, the OB-6 is a great playmate for the P6 and the module doesn’t take up much room, so you can set it right next to the P6.

You can see lots of fraudulent listings (reasonable descriptions, but way low prices and sellers with no history) on synths lately. Sweetwater's Gear Exchange seems to be building a little steam; feels like reverb has lost something after their acquisition by Etsy

There’s been steady scams with Elektron gear. All prices too good to be true.

Some of the move to Sweetwater is likely in part to Reverb banning people for moving sales off Reverb to avoid various fees.

On the Elektron boards there was a thread where people said they were banned after having messages on reverb moving sales. So, in some way they are monitoring.

Then, there’s those fees. Damn, they’re not fun.

But, I'm also pretty paranoid about these sorts of things, so I always check feedback, see what else they've sold, etc. before I buy anything from Reverb or eBay and I'm pretty risk-averse, so I don't buy anything that seems iffy. Sometimes, I'll message them. Scammers are usually pretty easy spot once you attempt to get them talking.

I'm with you there. Here I was thinking I stumbled upon a crazy discounted deal, and I didn't have any guardrails up since I haven't experienced any sort of scam before on an online marketplace. Lesson learned.

One down, one to go. Just found a great deal on an RD-9, should be delivered next week.

Now, I'm still trying to decide if I want the RD-8 mk1 or mk2...

This is what I do too. Look for feedback before buying. I haven’t needed to message much as a buyer.

Only once, I forgot to check and just got lucky. I scored a deal on Model:Samples from a first time seller.
