IIRC they usually have a sale for Black Friday, also one for winter, and in summer. For summer its usually around July to August. Last year it started July 21st.

None of that is guaranteed of course, so we'll have to wait and see.

Does Pigments 4 come with 14,000 presets? The Thomman.de website says it does:

"Library with 14000 presets".

Post

It comes with 717 presets in the Factory bank.
Edit: seems there are also Pigments 2,3,3.5,4 banks (283,200,150,120), so indeed 1470 presets.

There website says:
Start with presets

Not sure where to begin? Using Pigments’ smart preset browser, pick a style, an instrument type, or even a sound designer, and choose from 1400+ expertly-crafted sounds to get going. Basses, pads, leads, and a fair few sounds that blur the lines - the perfect foundation for your new sonic palette.
Extensive library of 1400 presets
So it is probably a typo, 1400 not 14,000.

Thanks for the info. What a stupid typo to make - imagine typing in "14,000" instead of "1,400" and not even noticing (or caring). It's a big difference.

edit: oh another site, my apologies

Please do - it's a fantastic and very deep synth and I'm sure you could get some great patches out of it

Great to hear, thanks. 😎👍

What are the strengths and perhaps weaknessess or missing categories regarding the included presets from your perspective?

I think the Buchla-esque West-Coast capabilities could be explored further - you have the Additive Harmonic oscs but they can also do harmonic wave shaping and morphing, cross modulation (including of other oscillator types, and there's a LPG and function generators - lots of scope there for anything between percussive sounds and abstract soundscapes. It also has a very extensive sequencer and many other ways to create movement, you can do a lot in terms of complex modulation.

Arturia can't CDN to save their life.
I got in just in time. Glad I was off work today and lurking on KVR.

If that's the biggest knock against a new Arturia release, they're definitely doing something right. (Except in their CDN of course.)
CDN? That stands for Customer Delay Network? :hihi:
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

There is always demand for MPE aware presets. Less LFO modulation for more expressiveness… If you use an expressive controller you want to play the vibrato with your fingers…

I think it's strengths are quite organic and percussive sounds. Drum like, piano and marimba like.

I haven't particularly got synth sounds out of it that I liked more than from anything else. Not to say it can't do these, but not my preference so far.

** I haven't gone really deep on it though, as I have ended up reaching for other things.

The interface is awesome thoughz really nice to work with. I maybe just haven't found the right combinations.of wavetable and filter for my synth tastes.

The granular engine is so good here. Easy to use with a range of great samples- perfect for atmospheres and pads. Almost too easy to dial up something really deep.
