We’ll be having reps for Soma at our LA synth club meet up on Monday. I’m looking forward to trying out Cosmos and Terra in person.

Just put an order in for a Neve Newton Channel Strip. Psyched.

Sounds like fun, Terra looks like it would be a blast to play.

If you don't mind, ask them where USA customers can get tech support for SOMA gear?

wow awesome!
you'll need plenty of time, cosmos just invites sitting and listening, with an occasional tweak :hihi:
plug terra in to that, and it's a party!!

Just got hold of a mint condition Elektron Octatrack mk1. Already having quite a blast with it. It's amazing how it's strange workflow can be so inspiring. It's the type of thing that should annoy the heck out of me but for some reason I seem to really click with it..

It's a very strange piece of kit for sure. A bit too early to say if I'll keep it or not. I have a colleague who has owned the thing twice, always ended up selling it and I can definitely see why. It's a bit of a bipolar piece of equipment.

My idea was to use it as a "live" performance mixer, not that I do any live gigs ever, but for my own experimentation and then just record the output into Reaper. I'm slowly but surely going towards simplifying my setup and trying to quench my obsession with always keeping all revisions and takes. I'm trying to go back to the old me, before I got all audio nerdy, and just hit record and be done with it. To hell with fine tuning and tweaking when it comes to just messing around with things. I obsess with details and fine tuning as my day job so I'm going to start ignoring those traits on my days off. :)

Don't worry. My Ether is ethering just fine. :) :tu:

At one point, I had a tech question or two, such as what is the best impedance of headphones to use with the Ether, or what impedance of audio preamp best matches the Ether for recording purposes. I'm also interested in any tips to minimize unwanted interference between my Ether and Zoom H6 field recorder. The inventor of the Ether said online something to the effect of "some recordings are best made by the mind" which I didn't find very helpful. Yeah, I'll just "imagine" I'm getting great recordings. That'll work!

I tried asking on an official SOMA online forum, but got no response there. They don't seem very active on the forum at all.

These are all relatively minor issues I will eventually figure out on my own, but it did occur to me, if I ever did have a real problem with any SOMA gear in the future, I don't know where to get tech support. I'm certainly not traveling to Russia anytime soon! :hihi:

i use a zoom, cant remember which model, looks like a razor has two mics at the top...
i found, a very long cable, and separating the two by as much distance as possible.
generally, ether in hand, recorder in back pack.
that seems fine tbh, i was also going to add some foil to the pocket of my back pack, but havent needed to so far :)

also, i "think" they work out of poland too?
when i bought my module (lyra delay) i was worried about the imminent war, and they assured me, it was being built and sent from their polish office.

Yes, SOMA does have an office in Poland. I think my Ether was manufactured there.

It was designed in Russia, made in Poland, sold in California, and now it's being used by me in West Virginia. It's a well-traveled little gadget! :)
