Hi Urs, I'm currently reading "All Gates Open - The Story of Can" by Rob Young and Irmin Schmidt. Just past the middle of the book, there's a section about Holger Czukay's post-CAN activities, and it mentions Holger's wife who went by the name of U-She... coincidence??!!

Coincidence, sorry to disappoint... I was known as Urs Heckmann long before I heard Can. And u-he.com was simply available as domain name when uh/u-h weren’t.

I have it on good authority that u-he.com’s preferred pronouns are they/them.

Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

IIRC I met him just once, many years ago in Can studio (converted small cinema) in Weilerswist. Never seen U-she.

He he, some years ago I wrote an homage song to Jaki Liebezeit and CAN. Of note, the bass was made using ACE. Guitar is a Shiraki acoustic.

Ubik was a sci-fi novel by PHillip K. Dick, I'm not sure about Runciter...krans wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2023 12:01 pm Talking of u-he naming, can someone please remind me where the names Uhbik and Runciter come from?
I imagine it's from some literary universe, but I'm not able to find it.

I think that the name "UHBIK" is, because as I remember Urs once mentioned that he very much liked the Ensoniq DP4 and maybe it means "U-He-Big-Soniq(k)".krans wrote: Tue Aug 29, 2023 12:01 pm Talking of u-he naming, can someone please remind me where the names Uhbik and Runciter come from?
