2023: A Year in Gear (What You've Bought or Want to Buy in 2023)

So far my plan is to keep my 1/2 on both the 18i20 & SP8 reserved for any condenser mics. Both sets are located on the front, so it'd be awkward to route those to the back of the patch bay.
Until I buy an acoustic guitar or more percussion or matched pair mics, I don't plan on using mics that require phantom power - but definitely a good thing to consider! And... would love add some acoustic stuff.
Everything will be in the Output Platform (no longer an Output product I think?) with 18i20 (left), patchbay (middle) and SP8 (right). 3' really should work but I still am going to measure.
Since its only 3U high, I don't think the weight will be an issue?? I'll still see if there's a way to avoid strain. I have enough velcro to rig something up that helps.

Aaaah that makes sense.justin3am wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 4:23 am I have almost every patch point set to half-normal. It just means that the connection between top and bottom only breaks when something is connected to the bottom. In modular parlance, this is the equivalent of using a passive multiple. With an output connected to the back-top, and an input connected to the back-bottom, you can connect a patch cable to the front-top at which point the signal is routed through the front patch cable and the back-bottom connection at the same time. This is really useful if you wanna send an output to its default connection and also another input, in parallel.

The only gear I’ve bought for my music setup this month (it being a write off due to playing 100+ hours on Baldur’s Gate 3 over the last 2 weeks) was a little two tier table for £30 that fit under my main desk and let me move three four way adaptors and my little mixer off the desk, freeing up space for more toys on top. Crucially frees up space for my 3 main modular racks, the Digitakt plus my 16n Faderbank.

They came with the kit too...
Ive not started building mine yet, twisted my back just over a week ago, not comfortable sitting hunched over a soldering iron. Maybe this weekend.
