Wiggling the FMO 1 FM modulation amount knob results in Bitwig 5.0.4 in having the modulation source reported in the Bitwig device for the synth, not the amount of modulation.
FM ModSrc is reported instead of FM ModDepth. So I use CC 21 with a MCCGenerator instead.

That's a quirk in how Bitwig finds the parameter it displays at the top of the parameter list.
As long as there is no modulation source selected, the mod source selector is overlayed over the mod depth control. I.e. if you click the mod depth, you will see the source selection list.
But even after the mod source is selected, Bitwig isn't able to then see the mod depth parameter, it still only sees the mod source selector.
The mod depth is still automatable in Bitwig, but you have to manually find it in the list of parameters.

Thanks for the explanation. Indeed the parameter can be found rather easily in the Bitwig device list.
