TW is still puzzling me; I started a new project, a few days ago and have saved several edits, since then. Today, I wanted to revert to a previous edit, but found that only my latest edit is listed in the second pane of the Projects window. Why aren't my previous edits also listed? Thanks for any insights!

Dunno, can't recall this ever happening to me and I've been using Tracktion since 2003. Have you checked if the missing .tracktionedit files still exist in the project folder? Easiest way to check this is to right click on the Project name in list on LHS of projects screen and choose 'Show folder containing this project'. If they are there but not showing in WF, I guess they are corrupted in some way. If they are not there then somehow they have been deleted.

Thanks, operandx. I did what you said, and only one .tracktionedit file is in the folder. I think I know what the problem is: Every time we save an edit, TW overwrites the previous edit, unless we change the name of the save, manually.

Is there no way to get TW to automatically give each save a unique filename (for example:
TW_Project_xyz_edit_0001.tracktionedit
TW_Project_xyz_edit_0002.tracktionedit
TW_Project_xyz_edit_0003.tractionedit
or whatever)?

Not that I know of. It aint too hard to 'Save as' and append a number to the filename, that's what I do.

I guess that's what I'll have to train myself to do - in case I unexpectedly need to revert to an earlier saved edit. I wish it cold be automated though.

There is no need to append a number to the filename. If you use the Save command, the current edit is overwritten, but if you use the Save As command, Waveform will automatically offer an increased number file name. For example, edit_4 will become edit_5. You just need to press OK or Enter.

I have Ctrl+Shift+s bound to "Save As." I don't know if it is already bound by default or if I customized it, but you can do that.

Oh, that's a good point! Come to think of it, I did vaguely notice that, but had somehow overlooked that this was obviously the simple, easy way to make a uniquely-named save, with no typing involved. Duh.. Silly me! :dog: Good idea about the keyboard shortcut, too. I will probably adopt that idea. Thank you, Imv! :)

There has been a thread running for the past four or five days concerning the automatic backups which are made by default but can be switched off. The user that started that thread has since decided that Waveform is not for him. I did start, but have not finished, a trial in which I'm intending to add a track each time I open the project in order to see how easy it is, if possible at all, to go back to the versions backed up at each stage. I should have a bit more time after Wednesday to test what happens. The user that started the other thread had had some sort of issue and said that whichever backup he went back to had no tracks at all.

If the backup works as it should, I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to just revert to whichever we want to look at, even if we subsequently ditch an early reviewed one in favour of a later one, or even retrieve track information that we may have rejected in order to paste it into a more recent version. I'll see about reporting my findings. Not likely to be before the weekend. The Backups should be listed on the Project page.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Hey Jabe, I'll be very interested to read the results of your findings, not least, because I too, have experienced the problem of all tracks empty, in saved edits, once or twice.
