Here is a preview to a video showing how to insert plugins.
Suggestions to refine the video script are welcome.

Perhaps have a brief overlay to also show the MacOS Finder Plugin folder, and a CLAP plugin.
In this video, focus only on How to Insert a Plugin. Demonstrate Favorites, Categories, and Tweaking Options in a separate video on the cool *workflow* of the Plugin Manager.

I tried to make this little tutorial plugin type independent so that it works for now (VST2 and CLAP) and would still work if VST3 would be added.
Yes, a separate one about the Plugin Manager is a good idea.
Thx.

One general suggestion for a quicker workflow. In the 'Browser/What' field, there is the option to select either Synth or Effect plugins, could we please have these as buttons so we can go straight to them? Maybe add the buttons next to the other Browser buttons? Thanks.
Maybe add a similar thing for MuX presets too?
As an additional thought, perhaps allow certain of these 'What' functions to be set as Favourites which then makes them appear as buttons? Maybe too much though?
I'm finding that I don't use the Browser due to the current way it works.

That's not a small refinement of the video, but a rather serious change of the browser...
So that would mean the video cannot be published now and so that would mean i can't use it for the M9.2 release. I don't want to delay the M9.2 release.

But tons of buttons puts on buttloads of clutter, no buts about it!sl23 wrote: Thu Aug 24, 2023 10:03 amCould we have buttons? Maybe add buttons to the other buttons? Maybe add buttons for MuX? Maybe too much buttons?

Pfew, that's a very hidden bug, probably in there for years. Congrats on spotting that
It's on Windows only. Will be fixed.

With my earlier reply i didn't want to say i don't like your user feedback and suggestion, rather that it's not the right time now. I've taken note on the wishlist: By default the browser would stay the same, i agree with Michael there, but maybe add the extra options to add user shortcut buttons that call a browser favorite. It's on the wishlist, but that wishlist is long, unfortunately. We'll see.sl23 wrote: Thu Aug 24, 2023 10:03 am One general suggestion for a quicker workflow. That's ok Jo, It was a bit blunt, but I understand that it was poor timing and placement!
Yes that was the idea, and thank you for adding it, I know that doesn't necessarily mean that will make it happen, but at least it's been accepted.
Btw, Michael, I know what you mean, but if we had maybe a small section available for user buttons, whether in the browser or outside maybe, if it's a small collection of say 5 buttons, it would facilitate users experience by allowing them to add things that they most use, don't you think?

I don't need user buttons, but dragging a plugin into the track area would suit me more. It's closer than all the way to the other side or the bottom of the screen, i know some judicious rearranging on my part might help, but I prefer the default layout. It's what I'm used to.
Dragging an audio plugin into the empty track area to add a new track, or dragging a plugin to an existent track too add it at the bottom off the rack would be quite nice.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

What is your use case: the steps you use to achieve your goal, and how MuLab responds in a way that creates a problem for you?sl23 wrote: Thu Aug 24, 2023 10:03 amI'm finding that I don't use the Browser due to the current way it works...maybe 5 buttons would facilitate users experience, don't you think?
Your FR to add more buttons makes no sense to me only because my workflow is different. For example, I open MuLab when I have a musical problem that I want to solve. I get distracted if I need to first decode many GUI doodads, so MuLab's uncluttered design is important to me.
I keep the browser docked on the left because it's grouped by the tracks, main menus and rack. When I click on What I get all the options at once, and I have everything in folder systems. This layout is faster for me than other ways. To 'favorite' a menu, I leave it open when I Save and it reopens there.
What about you?

As I said, I understand your pov, but your pov isn't the only pov. I personally dislike menus, you click a button to open a menu then waste time searching for what you want. Toolbars were born to make life easier and many users of any software prefer this method to menus.
Which is why I asked in the first place and secondly, why I asked that it be an option. That way, for users like yourself, nothing need change, but for users like me, I can make it suit my work flow better. For me, a button onscreen is easier and faster than opening menus trying to remember where things are. Especially when those things change as they have quite a bit in M9! I was looking for the menu option to bounce a track, couldn't find it for the life of me, then a day or two later, flicking through menus on top to figure out what was working and what wasn't, I stumbled across the option I needed! This wouldn't happen if we had user toolbars as the buttons we create remain a constant throughout, or at least, that's the idea.
Believe me, I understand far more than most how we all have different ways of working, each has their own ideas on how to improve that. When I suggest features I always think about whether it's worth mentioning and how beneficial it is to both MuLab and other users, do you?
As far as I can recall, I only requested one thing for my own selfish benefit, that has little value to the vast majority of users.
If I had my way, I would add a ton of buttons with user specified icons to make it easier to differentiate but I know Jo can't do everything. And, I wouldn't expect it. Most of the features that have been added in the last few years have not been required by me, but I don't go around stating they shouldn't happen as it doesn't suit my work flow, like others do.
Like I said, I get your pov, and I got it way before you even mentioned it, because I thought about it when I made the request.
No offense meant. Apologies if this comes across harsh, I have severe insomnia and have been awake for an hour as I cannot sleep since waking just before 3am, it's now just gone 4am!
