There was an amusing post on ebay of someone selling a ‘yellow’ one. It was clearly one exactly like the one in the video that people had smoked over for 30 odd years.Constructed Identity wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 12:16 amThat's a Roland from back when they were a pretty good co.

If I didnt already have a Disting EX, this would have made me get one. As it is, I now want a second one...

I think mine’s due to do the same in the next couple of months. I’m supposed to get a pay rise every April, but unions and the councils spend forever arguing the toss over how much so it’s been 5 months and still no sign. Christ I hope it’s more than the usual per cent or two as this time round everything’s gotten really expensive.vurt wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 6:52 pm aaaand bloody landlord put the rent up, so may a bit before i can buy more than cables![]()

Got a pair of 10' cables. So I have a pair labled(L,R) set out for off-and-on instruments and one more out for Fusionbox so I am fine for a while but if(when) I get a new toy I am going to get an ART 8-channel stereo mixer for a new 2U desk unit like the wood one I got on etsy in January.
Basically taking the month off doing anything music wise because this is the last month of nice weather in the frozen north.

That's ridiculous tbh. Though I wish my rent was only due to go up 50 a month. I have a feeling it'll be more like 150 and whatever pay rise I do end up with won't cover that even though the one good thing with all the waiting is they'll eventually backdate it so I'll get a nice lump sum to fritter away to take my mind off the fact I'm fecked in the long run.vurt wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 9:08 pmrents gone up 50 quid.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 8:46 pmI think mine’s due to do the same in the next couple of months. Slowly getting the hang of the Cocoquantus 2+Plumbutter 2 combo. Here is a short recording I did, also featuring the Lorre-Mill Double Knot.

It's really weird to do drum stuff without any kind of step sequencer but it's very satisfying when something coherent happens with this setup. I'm not sure if I'd perform this way but I've recorded so much new sampler food over the last few weeks. Lots of incidental rythms and surprising sounds. I was originally skeptical but I've been having a ton of fun with these instruments.
If you are put off by inscrutable descriptions of stuff that's actually pretty simple... you'll hate this:

That's really interesting. I've seen the plumbutter in a video, I think last year, but don't remember any tune from it. I think electronic music hasn't gotten into more unusual time signatures enough.justin3am wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 5:59 pm Slowly getting the hang of the Cocoquantus 2+Plumbutter 2 combo. In that department, us Belgians are lucky: we have automatic wage increases triggered by inflation.vurt wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 9:08 pmrents gone up 50 quid.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 8:46 pmI think mine’s due to do the same in the next couple of months. Right wing politicians want to undo that, but they failed so far (the former, right wing government did take away tax deductions for the first home though - only people who buy a second one get tax deduction therefor).
Luckily, by the time inflation spiked, the right wing separatist populists had crashed the former government, and alienated even conservatives and neo-liberals so much the populists weren't invited into the current government.
These automatic wage increases have helped our economy stay out of recession, we're doing much better than our neighbours.

Urgh how can you bear living somewhere with such eminently sensible provisions for ordinary people?

Sensible policy - while it lasts.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:22 am Urgh how can you bear living somewhere with such eminently sensible provisions for ordinary people?
Since the 1980s, ordinary people have been voting against their own interests, especially in these times of Trumpism (and worse) throughout the West.
People are obsessed with unemployed people getting benefits, while there are ever greater tax cuts for multinational corps and the 0.1%.
People are bad at seeing the big picture: when a million people die, we cannot fathom that; when climate change threatens us in a distant future, that seems far off - but that single guy in the street that gets a free lunch, that gets us worked up.
