Well, I guess he used some AMD driver that was not good.
Maybe a new AMD GPU model with some immature driver.

RTX Nvidia cards are not a problem.
I have RTX-3060Ti and RTX-3070 in my two main DAWs.
We've also used them for many clients.

Every now and then, Nvidia releases a poor behaving driver.
But... you've got plenty of recourse with both "Game Ready" and "Studio" drivers... as well as being able to roll forward/backward.

I would disagree, up till the latest driver I had dpc latency with any of the previous Nvidia drivers

FWIW, Most people have experience with building/configuring a handful of machines.
I've personally built/supported thousands of machines over the past 30 years.

If you're having DPC Latency issues with a RTX video card:
- You may not know how to resolve it.
- Your motherboard may not expose parameters that could resolve it.

I just sent out several DAWs that are using Nvidia RTX video cards.
None of them have DPC Latency issues.
A client recently came to me because he built/configured a machine (using a RTX video card) that was having DPC Latency issues.
I rebuilt/reconfigured his machine (same model motherboard and his RTX video card).
No DPC Latency issues.

The 139000k based machine sitting next to me can run IK's ToneX plugin at 96k with an ASIO buffer size as low as 16-samples.
That equates to ~0.5ms total round-trip latency.
This machine has a RTX-3060Ti (used for video editing and DAW purposes).
If the machine had any issue with DPC Latency, that level of performance wouldn't be possible.

It was a laptop and I have read just bout every article on the internet to resolve latency. The latest drivers helps with the nvidia.drv problem but the rest is windows.

Either way, multiple monitors causes an issue with fps, there's a penalty for it. Better off using one monitor for gaming and inside a daw. They're both pretty intensive.

If it's a laptop you're talking about, the issue is that the laptop's BIOS (motherboard) isn't exposing the parameters needed to eliminate the problem. :wink:

If it were a blanket problem with Windows, all PC DAWs would suffer from high DPC Latency.
That's (obviously) not the case.

FPS is not a concern with DAW software.
If you're running a RTX card with semi-passive cooling, you'll notice the fans don't spin at all when running DAW applications.

We have professional composer clients running massive orchestral scoring templates... who are using multiple monitors (RTX video cards).

I use a single large 4k display. Not for any performance reason... but more due to space/logistics.
A large 4k display fits nicely between a pair of near-field monitor speakers.
The machine I'm typing on is running a RTX-3060Ti.

Yeah, is a nice card you have, with plenty of tensor cores. I have a 65" TV I use as a screen. I've gone with a logitech k380, and then purchasing a logitech 720 triathlon, so that the bluetooth connections can be both for my roku tv and computer. For both models; they have three available bluetooth connections. Got the TV as a floor model for $318 CAD; happy with that. Got the three year warranty also. Gives me play to have a second computer for video / gaming.

I hope daw's start putting the graphics load on the gpu's soon, but in the plug-in's case: That would mean the re-modelling of vst architecture. I'm switching all my products over to vector soon; hopefully they still sound good; and not gritty.

You don't need anything besides integrated graphics so you can get a display running. An AMD 3400g a sub $100 cpu is better in speed and graphics than a lot of people around here are running. I would be concerned with core count and max maintainable speed per core when under load. I would also be concerned the latency involved with those cores. I could see stuff such as reverb modeling being passed of to gpu but as an after effect to be applied not really in the serial processing a DAW does. A 144mhz monitor will actually change your flow and interaction, give it a shot.

I may go with an intel core 5 with iris xe graphics for a video machine; I notice there is very little latency. I would likely go purely m.2 and no tpm or bit locker. Found a nice ddr5 gigabyte ultra durable with two m.2's onboard, a hyper bifurcation card would make it really snap. I'm not worried about the cia going through my sh**
