Serum is sweet. I hope that Serum 2 would be even sweeter :)

I once almost pulled the trigger on the rent to own thing, but, 189 € is way to steep, even doing that. Matter of principle for me.
I understand. For me, as a matter of principle, I try to get what pleases me in the music world and the cost represents the value of my principle.

Oh, I'm the same, for the most part. But, 189 € is about 89 € more than I'd pay for such a plugin (and more than I ever paid for such a plugin).

If he'd do sales every once a while, I'd probably already have bought it. It's a nice synth, I really liked it when I demo'd it.

i am not the biggest fan of pigmen but i will go for that one instead, it is more capable for sound design and arturia have sales from time to time

I definitely prefer Serum, sound wise. But, Pigments only cost me 69 €. :) Surely does a lot of things Serum doesn't do, though.

It's really beyond me why some companies don't do sales. It's the dynamics in pricing which create the sales. Some people just don't get that, it seems. Well, their loss.

Serum has the most comprehensive wavetable editor period. Thats why its $189. It also does a lot of very nifty things that others do not. Its def my desert island synth for sure. I would be totally fine just using that and nothing else

Steve also doesn't believe in upgrade fees so I imagine if or when there is a Serum 5, or Serum 20 if i am still alive then :), those too will be a free upgrade/update.
I am quite happy with that approach.
Coming from days of hardware when synths were $1500 and up... the fee is quite fine for me.

Sounds good on paper, but, nobody can possibly know if Serum 2 isn't the last version, buying into such a scheme, or, even, if there'll be a Serum 2 at all.

Anyway, it is what it is, and we're all free to do our buying decisions, so.

Serum actually saved me tons of money. I stopped buying (IIRC) synths after I began to dig deep into Serum.

It’s just magnificent and it can do more than it is advertised for, or shown on YouTube. I only upgrade what I have in terms of synths or trying support some talented developer when it can be a win win deal like Vital….

So…$$$ saved!

My main tools are Serum, Diva and Omnisphere.
The rest is sitting at the bench just in case.

It’s great to find tools that worm for you. Serum v1 wasn’t interesting to me, but I look forward to trying v2 for certain.

Currently, my software synths of choice are Fabfilter Twin3 and UAD Opal, with Hive 2 and a few emulations like Model 84 stepping in from time to time. I couldn’t get on with Diva or Omni, personally, and sold both.

Twin3 is a gem and I'm happy I upgraded.

Hive with Plugmon's "Analog Anthem for Hive" helps me to use it more often.
I don't use Hive enough to be at easy with it.

I use the other Opal... by Fors
