Same bs the media (owned by the rich who want people to vote against their own interests to enrich them even further) spout in our news daily.

Thanks to inflation triggered pension increases, I was able to buy a number of effect pedals in 2023 (after a very austere 2 year period):
- Wampler Belle (really nice)
- MXR Duke of Tone (a little underwhelming at first impression)
- a second hand Devi Ever Soda Meiser (unruly and fun)
- Earthquaker Devices Hizumitas (seriously hot)
- a second hand MXR Timmy (really nice)
- Chase Bliss Mood II (wow)
- Lauren Audio Mustang GT (in the mail)
Also (finally) ordered a new PC (hopefully that will finally sort my recording troubles).
Luckily for my food budget, I've no more space for synths (and have stored a lot of rice and tinned food since the pandemic started).
And I've put up lots of stuff for sale on the local Craigslist style market place.
I've already sold a number of pedalboards and pedals (and even some of the records I bought in the 80s).

If you are put off by inscrutable descriptions of stuff that's actually pretty simple... you'll hate this:

That's honestly more of an explanation of those instruments than I knew existed.justin3am wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 5:59 pm If you are put off by inscrutable descriptions of stuff that's actually pretty simple... you'll hate this:

Sort of want, but even second hand it's not cheap

So far the only thing I’ve picked up this year is a Melbourne Instruments Nina, but it was a really big purchase for me. My most expensive instrument by a lot. I love it, though.

Ha! When I first started looking at Peter's stuff in like 2015, I was completely baffled. Some of the older pages for the Ambrasier, Roolz-Gewei and his paper circuits are still there and the language gets really... interesting. The text over images, hidden links, sounds that trigger on mouse-over and stuff reminds me of the old internet.foosnark wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 11:37 amThat's honestly more of an explanation of those instruments than I knew existed.justin3am wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 5:59 pm If you are put off by inscrutable descriptions of stuff that's actually pretty simple... you'll hate this:

Bought a couple of things, nothing Earth shattering but probably useful. A 1U Steppy and a full fat Erica Synths Drum Mixer to go with my Mixer Lite. I fluctuate between trying to do everything via a DAW and do stuff just on the modular, but I think the Steppy will be good for just general pattern stuff as well as drum and note triggers. Can see it being useful for things like trance gate sequencing if run fast enough.

Knobcon is this weekend. I don't have any particular plans to buy anything.
But my first Knobcon forced me to buy Natural Gate immediately on its release (it was cheaper then!) and also I wound up getting Cursus Iteritas, uFold, and eventually Mangrove and a Reface CS.
The second one confirmed that I had to have Mimeophon (I was already pretty sure) and damn near sold me both Moog Grandmother and Hydrasynth.

Are there any known things coming this weekend?

BoredBrain has teased "something BIG" (like I have room for that, ha).
Mystic Circuits seems to have been teasing something that looks like an updated Ana, so I'll have to check it out... but unless it's got something really special going for it I'll probably keep the one I have. I do want to grab another Blinkus if he's selling the 0HP stuff at the show, for stereo, but that's pretty much lunch money.
Noise Engineering is going to be there and they just released Xer Mixa, but it's not really on my radar, I'll stick to mixing in the DAW. I'll still probably hang out there a bit and talk to them (I've beta tested some stuff for them and once applied to work there). Patrick is going to be performing Saturday and I'll have to catch that for sure.
Therevox will be there, and I hope to play an Ondes Martenot for a bit and also check out their Ondes VCO... but I probably won't buy one even so.

I hope OptX v2 is there from Boredbrain. I don't know if that'd qualify as "big" but it's one I've been holding out for.foosnark wrote: Thu Sep 07, 2023 1:56 am BoredBrain has teased "something BIG" (like I have room for that, ha).

Oh, apparently Pet Rock is going to be at Knobcon.
It's a fun stupid idea, and it works because they're apparently selling them at cost -- the first run was just $30.This 4hp Eurorack module generates a new rhythm every night at midnight that you have 24 hours to use. Pet Rock is like rhythm Wordle - everyone who owns the module gets the exact same rhythm.
