TDR Nova question

Whenever I close out a project and return, the band-solo setting in the TDR Nova EQ resets. For this song I'm working on, I have a few tracks where I want only specific bands to be on. Every time I come back to work on the project, I have to turn those specific bands back on.

A Waveform (12) thing or a Tokyo Dawn Labs thing, you think?

mmmmm, I'll try to guess... no other daw does this happen, does it?

VST3 thing, I believe. Do they have a VST2 version?
Waveform 13; Win10 desktop/8 Gig; Win11 Laptop; MPK261; VFX+disfunctional ESQ-1

Hmm...not sure. I'm still new to all this, really. And I was under the impression Waveform can't do VST2s.

TW works fine with vst3 and vst, most of those formats. Contact the developers of both TW and TDR and most likely one of them will make corrections.

I use vst2 of Nova in WF. Retains on/off state of bands on edit save/reopen. Doesn't save state of 'Band Solo' button but thats just for previewing which freq regions are being affected by selected bands so I wouldn't expect it to be saved.

I've encountered a few plugins that work fine in one format but not the other. I've got a mix of vst2 and vst3 plugins. It's most likely not a Waveform issue; just a quirk of so many developers doing different things.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Waveform can't use 32-bit VSTs but it can use any 64-bit VST (no matter if it's VST2 or VST3).
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Ah, thanks.

No, I don't think that's correct.

I've purposely been using it on return tracks as a way to affect only certain bands. So, for instance, with a guitar submix, I wanted to use Ozone Imager 2 only for the mid-highs of the guitars -- wanted to spread them out more while keeping the lower frequencies tighter. It works. I've also used it for reverbs in that way.

Yup, you are right, I didn't consider using it for that purpose, we should be able to save state. Don't know if it's saved in other DAWs

Generally you would use a band pass filter or a combined low/high pass filter setting to isolate part of the spectrum. Haven't used nova, but these are basic options that it should have and would be saveable.

Also, if you have the Waveform Daw essentials plugins, there is a multiband splitter in there. You need to wrap it in a rack and then you can take your output from the low, mid or high band (or a balanced combination). In the plugin itself you adjust the three bands filter slope, volume, and crossover (eg you could take the mids, a small amount of highs, and no lows)

I did some testing. The band solo doesn't save in Waveform using either the VST2 or VST3 version of TDR Nova. It also doesn't save in Reaper using either the VST2 or VST3 version. So it looks like it's either a TDR Nova bug or else it's not meant to be saved.

*If* Tony has the DAW Essentials in his version, this sounds like a *really* useful and slick idea. Nice call.

Ah, yeah, they might not have considered it for that use.

Thanks for checking into that.
