Thanks Mario.
I don't think I had heard of the ac15, this article brought me up to speed.

Correct but also incorrect. At least as of a few hours ago, it’s working for anyone who has MPS 5. A mistake that will likely get fixed at some point, but who knows when.

I took the gamble, probably wouldn’t have upgraded otherwise, got the licenses and registered them. My MPS 5 license was from probably a year ago when I got it as part of some deal to upgrade RX.

NI make some mistakes, but Reaktor, Kontakt, Guitar Rig etc. are all top notch. If you buy their products separately and/or upgrade outside of Komplete you're wasting your money. if you expect them to pay attention to, or finish off a product that needs polishing (Maschine, Komplete Control etc.), you will be disappointed when it becomes deprecated instead. Look up Komplete Care, their "subscription" service for upgrades that lasted one year, from 18 years ago. These aren't new problems for this company based on their new owners etc.

Never buy NI (or pretty much any software ever) based on the promise of software improvements in the future, buy it for what it gives you right now.
Thats a good perspective

I would like to add: I bought Komplete Standard and updated to 14. While some of the contents are not the best around, they are just there when needed, so I am reaching for them daily. I use it as a baseline. Maybe I switch the instrument out later.

The same goes for inspiration. Libraries are just there for me.

And the same for getting started. This can take you very far.

Guitar Rig can be perceived as an all-around effect toolkit. It covers a lot.

There was a phase problem with Guitar Rig effects in a parallell chain, it did not report latency to DAW. Is it now fixed?

And if anyone has TONEX, I've made 14 Vox AC15C1X profiles that are available freely on TONE.net. The C1 is the "good" modern AC15 (better than the CC, more reliable and better bang for your buck than the HW), which is basically half an AC30TB with both channels. And the X indicates the Celestion Blue speaker. So...just one less reason to feel the need to upgrade to GR7 if you're unhappy with the new amps being in a paid upgrade.

GR 7. Meh.

Happy with GR 6, the upgrade isn't worth the dosh to me, will spend the cash on pizza and beer instead. :hihi:

Won't make me sound better, but I suck anyway and the beer will help me not care!! :drunk: :wheee:

Upgrade price is stupid steep. I've pretty much stopped buying NI stuff. I own everything I need at this point sample-wise.

That’s my exact thoughts on this. I just upgraded to Guitar Rig 7, but not via Native Instruments. In their greed to extract too much from a loyal customer, I found someone selling their license for less than half the cost of my upgrade price and even lower than I thought a fair price was. I wonder how many of these transactions will happen, or no transactions at all, before Native Instruments rethinks its pricing strategy. Maybe never. Maybe it’s a rounding error in their spreadsheet and they don’t care. Either way, I got a deal that seems fair.

I’m not happy about the change in NI’s business model, but that won’t prevent me from using their products for what they’re great at. If you are patient and game their system, you can always get great deals.

And this is when I think it’s good to point out BS updates and broken promises. They’re under the umbrella of venture capitalism. Customers rarely win out (if ever) from these types of deals.

I hope for others that I’m wrong.

Unless I see something that suggests otherwise, I don’t care to put my money towards them coasting on NI’s shaky reputation.
Not venture capitalism, but private equity firm. There is a difference:

https://www.propublica.org/article/what ... ate-equity

Contains both pros and cons of private equity firms in an informative and balanced treatment.

For many years, I have had the impression that NI was poorly managed, typical for companies started by techies such as I am. I have little doubt that they wasted a lot of money. Financial restructuring, hopefully one of the improvements that the private equity firm has in mind for resale of NI, may be just what NI needs to flourish again.
